Val
Bought a nice 1m tall hookah and its working great except from the hose. Its oriental type, quite thick. Both ends are made of wood. When im smoking i keep getting that processed wood flavour though, which isnt nice Tried cleanig it with water and rubbing it with brush, but the flavour still remains. Also, after 2-3 sessions the hose got a lot of tobaco flavour in it, which isnt very nice either. What should i do about it?
Hojo
Well, your hose probably isn't washable, so there is potential mistake number 1. Beware of rust.Flavor ghosting is a problem many people have. Residual flavors, unless the flavor you were smoking is super strong, usually leave my hoses after 5-10 minutes of heavy smoking. As for the wood flavor, I don't really have any advice except to smoke through it. The flavor will leave eventually.
DJ_HOSSEIX
As hojo mentioned make sure your hose is washable before proceeding a cleaning method. Ive owned many iranian hookahs that are wooden in the past and i recall that for the steam and those hose i always had to oil them up and leave to dry (a one time thing) before i smoked it. I dont know what type of wood your hose has but my iranian ones would flake into small particles and upon intake you would get a mouthful of crap if you didnt oil them up.Second if you can clean your hose try a lemon juice-baking power mixture and rinse it a couple times with that solution. What ive also found that works really well is a warm concentrated tea.

Stuie
that's a very elegant looking hose. It's most likely not washable. I would just say smoke the flavor out.
Sonthert
Its not washable.Get a scrubby sponge or piece of abrasive cleaning pad for doing the dishes and just go over the very tip of that hose for 10 minutes or so to remove the lacquer. See if that makes a difference.
