DarbyFett
Music for some reason plays a big part of any smoking expieriance for me. When i smoke my pipe i usually listen to Tom Waits or The Chieftans..So i was curious what everyon listens to when smoking the hookah. Partly because im curious and also because im looking for recommendations. I love Middle Eastern music in general but am having a hard time locating the exact style i like... dizzing
i like indian raga for smoking the nargile... technically, that's as traditional as you could get, unless i'm totaly wrong and offensive to indian culture :)ravi shankar all the way one of my friends used to have his turntables set up at my apartment, and one of my roommates had an old ravi shankar lp that we'd listen to and play with from time to time when we smoked hookah

DarbyFett
Ravi Shankar is amazing....I saw him and his daughter Anoushka last year in Dallas...it was amazing. Dead Can Dance is amazing smoking music all around and great fire spinning music. I downloaded some of the traditional Middle Eastern bands listed in another forum but it still isnt just right...this sucks.. hah.

Wu Tang Clan.[/quote] I saw Crystal Method in concert a few years ago. Was awesome when the song would take off and all the lights in the background started going crazy. All we could see were their silhouettes in front of the turntables. When I'm smoking I usually listen to a mix of Common, Kanye West, Nas, Mozart, Chopin, The Roots, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Little Brother (Foreign Exchange), or Fort Minor.Duck Season is a good song

Brad
I can listen to the In Search of Sunrise sets over and over again. I was really into trance and Drum n Bass a while back.I like Handsome Boy Modeling School too, but that's mostly because Del appeared in a few of the songs. txbrit31
I'm not exactly certain how others enjoy their hookah time- but I have a special corner in my living room just cushions and now (thanks to mushrat's help) a couple of throw rugs (to save the carpet)- typically I turn the lights off- light some candles and turn on Delerium, Deep Forest, Dead Can Dance, or throw on a hearts of space album.
