Packing Problems.

Recommended Posts

I'm having problems with my Mya bowl.

Okay so I am packing AF into my bowl, and for whatever reason after the first couple of minutes into the session the pull i get seems to gain quite a noticeable restriction, and I am guessing that the tobacco is blocking the holes in the bowl.

Now I always sprinkle the tobacco into the bowl up to the rim as usual, and never pat the tobacco down. So I am not sure how this can happen, the first 10 or 15 pulls always have an easy pull but after that it gets quite hard, seems that the tobacco gets pulled down after a while and starts to block the holes.

It also gets quite harsh, I am using two cocos, but dropped to one and used a windcover (made out of foil). But it is still harsh, did I burn the tobacco already?

Starting to have this problem quite recently, but before this I always had good sessions using the mya bowl.

Any solutions?

I'd say it is just b/c of AF's newer smaller cut. You could always sprinkle and then make a hole in the middle so the shisha is around the sides, and you could treat the bowl like a phunnel. Sprinkle and push it all along the sides, foil, poke 2-3 rings of holes and put the coals only on the edges, voila, problem solved.

wont the tobacco eventually fall towards the center though if i did that? I like the idea, but im not 100% sure if that would fix the problem.

The AF bubblegum and watermelon i got seems to be very harsh I found out, I wasn't burning the tobacco but the flavor was extremely intense to the point of discomfort. Used to love them both, but now I guess I'd skip those flavors when I stock up again..

When you pack the bowl, flip it over and poke the holes from the bottom of the bowl through the top of the foil, then add the rest of the holes on top. You could also probably do with 1.5 cocos. one on an edge, big one in the center to start, then both on the edges in a v shaped pattern with part of the whole cole hanging off the side of the bowl.

When your poking holes get your toothpick to go all the way through the bowl so it fits into the holes on the bottom. Or you can pack a little less and shake your bowl once you foil it to get everything spread out.

I think this is where my problem is, yeah i poke the toothpick about halfway through and I think it is pushing the tobacco down since I don't feel like the toothpick is going through the tobacco at all.

Blow through the bottom of the bowl after it is packed. It will fluff the shisha a bit, and hopefully clear out the holes.

I will try that.

i couldn't poke any more holes even if i wanted to... i will try and acclimate the AF as mattarios said

not more holes, just bigger holes. the problem might be the holes are so small that they get sealed from ash and tobacco.

yeah i tried that, didn't help. I really think that it's the tobacco blocking the holes on the bowl.

Yep, I am smoking AF Watermelon right now....it seems to require a very low level of heat compared to the Rommon that I usually smoke. I usually use two coals to get it started, then stack the coals for as long as possible...that gives me the least harshness from it. Edited by mustang_steve
