noca$h
So I really want to break into pipe smoking, and the only thing I know about pipe smoking is that its best to start off with more aromatic blends and work your way up to English blends and see what you like. Or something like that (Excuse my noobie ignorance.) .Any seasoned smokers out there have any tips for the FNG? What brand of pipe and tobacco are great for beginners? What is the art and zen of packing a good bowl?Cheers.

AKammenzind
Captain Black is nice and mild to begin with. As for all the packing/lighting tips, you'd be best off just searching the internet... there are a bunch of good guides to help you start pipe smoking. One thing I'll say though is that you shouldn't start off with an expensive pipe, because for someone just starting out the difference isn't that great... and cheaper pipes seem to generally be less prone to the chuggy-chuggy. mushrat
I agree with starting off with a cheaper pipe. Any pipe over about 60 bucks and you are paying for the name. I've had great smokes with 20 buck pipes from my local tobacconist. My favorite tobacco is a straight Black Cavendish. So a better quality of Capt. Black. Hell, get a corn cob p[ipe for 6 bucks. Should smoke just fine while you decide if you want ot keep going with it.

Giant Ninja Robot
meercham NOT reccomended for n00bs lol, those things can break very easily with improper heat. Just get a corn con to see how you likey, then grab a 20-40 dollar pipe. FTW, estate sales and antique shops often have great pipes for waaaay cheap. Ebay also actually has some great packages that usually include some nice briars. Used you say? Used can be a good thing if the prior smoker knows how to break a pipe in properly, which takes a lot of time.you can just call it a briar pipe btw to avoid confusion

noca$h
Can corn cobs take multiple smokes? Or do I have to let it sit after a single smoke for a day?

It came with a specially made case with soft lining to keep it in good condition. I got pissed when the case got really smooshed during moving, the pipe was warped a little, and I had to get it repaired by the guy that made it for me.
