jezter6
The other day I loaded up some AF Watermelon Mint.Hookah: Mya QT, Small Phunnel (no mod)Coals: 2 cocos to start, then 1 more when the first were half dead, then 1 more when the other one was half deadTotal Session time: 2h 45mFlavor of mint was still going, I just gave up and didn't want to sit around another hour smoking only mint.Of course, the mix was more mint than I intended to begin with, but the watermelon died about 1.5-2 hours in and it was all mint the last 45-60 minutes. noca$h
Shisha - Lit up some AF Watermelon.Bowl - Small Tangiers PhunnelFoil - Standard foil, 1 layer.Hole Pattern - Toothpick sized holes, making rings starting from outside to the inside of the bowl, making about 5-6 holes in the middle and poking all the way to the bottom of the shisha.Coals - I typically use 4 CH Coco QLs to start my bowl off, it it starts hitting harsh I take a coal off, but after a while (I would say about 20 minutes in) ill throw the 4th coal back on. My second round is usually just 3 more CH Coco QLs.Duration - Id say 1:15 give or take, ive never really recorded after the hour mark. Its usually 2 people 5 hits each, 5 seconds between each hit. The falvor tends to wittle after the hour, and the smoke SLIGHTLY dies too but never really until the bowl is cashed.
rigor
Thanks to everyone replying. Sorry if some of my earlier comments came off harsh, but I do have a really tough time believing some statements about 4, or even 8 hour sessions off normal bowl and non Tangiers shisha. In case this wasn't clear enough, I personally am generally done with my sessions about 1 to 1.5 hours, because at that point, the smoke doesn't have as strong or tasty of a flavor anymore. Sure, it might still have a little taste left, but compared to how it was for the past hour or so, I'd just rather not smoke it any longer. Hence my question of how long your sessions are with full flavor and smoke. Thanks
staygone
I could smoke a bowl for 50 plus hours, only thing stopping me is my short attention span. Maybe it'll taste like crap though, but if somebody wanted to smoke a bowl for that long, they could.-QM
Bulldog_916
Well, I used to get 4 hours off of a normal egyptian bowl of Layalina Raspberry. I know for a fact that it's possible.
Sonthert
Shisha - TangiersBowl - Large PhunnelFoil - Heavy Duty, 1 layerHole Pattern - 150-160 oyster fork holes (square and large)Coals - Golden Charcoal, 4x1/4 to start, one single (1x1/4) after that lights, one single (1x1/4) after that lights, put 1x1/2 Goldens on followed by another 1x1/2 Golden and repeat until I'm done smoking. Duration - 10-19 Hours. Flavor good for two hours, smoke good for the entire duration, picking and strengthening up 6 hours in. Tapering off after 12-17 hours. Bowls I smoke less time, sometimes I just pull the foil and the dried upper layers off and add a new top layer to the old bottom layer.

Or QL goldens? And for the amount of coals, you light up 4 and start with those, then you put one single coal on and once that coal is fully ready to go and on the bowl, you light up another, and so on and so on? I'm confused lol.
redjako
Good thread...and I've personally "wasted" inordinate amounts of shi-sha on my Mya bowl...normally the taste is gone (burnt) with two coco's after 1.5 hours, either solo or another person (when I smoke solo, I'm puffing nearly constantly). Is this standard on deep egyptian bowls? I normally just reload the bowl and restart everything, since flipping the shi-sha still retains that burnt flavor...Medium Phunnel:Instead of "reloading" my medium phunnel, half packed, which is currently going on 45 min:Half-packed with Pharoa Lemon MintHole pattern of two rings ONLY over the shisha-side of the phunnel.I'm going to try just adding two more coco's.. steeeeeeve
my average setupsmall phunnel AF (none left now)1 layer heavy duty foilkm exoticarazanwarm wateraverage length of a session is between 3-5 hours (4 waves of coal each can last anything from 45 mins to an hour but occasionally i can use 5 waves IF i used alot of juice and added lemon juice to the shisha itself)my longest session was nearing 6 hours with a large egyptian bowl 2 layers normal foil, km exotica, razan lots and lots of holes, there are a fair number on this forum that watched this session on webcam (im looking at you drabin and six)Steveplease keep in mind i have been smoking shisha for years and i enjoy what some people might find harsh alough flavor defo lasts for a good 3 hours, the 6 hour session the flavor was there for 4 and a half hours i announced it on cam too Edited February 9, 2009 by steeeeeeve

steeeeeeve
warm water increases the flavor of the shisha but the result can be in some cases overwhelming taste or some would consider it harsh i use nour finger coals, on an egyptian ill use 4 half inch peices or 3 1.25 inch peices and on the phunnel ill use 3 inch long peicesedit : i dont think its about handling harsh i just think youll find many of us that have been smoking for longer periods enjoy a different flavor as well as the common fruity flavor and cool (cold water effect) feeling on the throat, not all of us but a fair few Edited February 9, 2009 by steeeeeeve
Majid
Tobacco: Nakhla with a few drops of glycerin and a small teaspoon of honey.Foil: 2 layers of normal, not HD foil. I fold one large piece of foil as opposed to using two seperate pieces, this seems to make the foil able to carry weight better.Coals: Two coco coals on the outsideBowl: Deep unglazed bowl. holds 15-25 grams.Duration: Hour and a half, would be longer but i tend to light 3 coals, put two on the bowl and add a third piece when the first two have burned up too much, instead of lighting 2 new ones when i need them. I think spreading the heat around too much causes the bowl to burn, when i am not lazy and light two coals first and two coals about 60 mins into a session to replace the first two, i can smoke for about 2/2.5 hours. Alqoshnia1
for you guys that are getting 4+ hours of smoke and using Tangiers, how long is your start-up? when I first started smoking it would take about 10 minutes to actually start getting decent smoke/flavor and I would have a great long lasting session. lately ive been pretty impatient and add an extra coal to get smoke started within the first 3-5 puffs, but my sessions wouldnt reach anywhere near an hour and would be pretty harsh in the beginning. are you guys starting very slow with low amount of coal? SilentBob
i usually get big clouds from tangiers after the second hit. i use 2 CH naturals, HD foil with lots of holes, packed tightly like recommended. usually lasts about 1.5-2hrs.

A bar of Golden Canaries divides into four quarters, so I start with 4x 1/4, I add 1x 1/4 about 10 minutes in another 1x1/4 10 minutes after that and then start on 1x1/2 which are Golden Canary bars broken into two halves, rather than for quarters .
