Hoses And Water Leakage

So when I smoke out of my hookah I tend to get some water leakage inside my hose. My hookah stands 10 inches tall, is this a common problem to short hookahs? Or am I smoking it wrong?

If you have water in your hose, you need to use less water. And most hoses + water = rust.. If you there are black or brown its coming out of your hose, its rusted

No. And if you get vinyl tubing much larger than around 1/2" ID it tends to bend and prevent airflow a bit. Really though, there's no need to go larger than that, and I myself prefer to have a little more drag, so I go with 3/8 ID

Soaking it in hot water can help a little, but it generally just won't be as flexible. In my experience that slightly lesser flexibility hasn't really mattered, though.
