A thinner hose will have a larger pressure drop, that is the amount of lung power necessary to overcome the inherent resistance of the hose, so it would take more work to get the same amount of smoke or less smoke with the same amount of lung draw.

I have tried Turkish hoses that are TOO fat. Its like trying to suck smoke through a barn door.

theres also the fact that smaller hoses draw slower so more smoke goes through the water and you could get less smoke that way (if you ever smoked by a swimming pool you would know)

i like thicker hoses because i find it faster/easier to draw smoke from. and its less hassle gripping a big hose rather than holding a small hose between my fingers.

I just bought a new hose like twice the size of my old one I take long hits all the time and my new big hose gives the hits fatter and easier

Wider hoses have an easier pull which is all that maters in my opinion. I hate having a hard pull

but you will only pulls as hard as the smallest point of your hookah most commonly where you attach the hose (kind of like a sand clock) . but i prefer a thicker hose a it clogs up less
