Snakes On A Plane!

Is it OK to bring quicklite coals on the plane in the checked luggage? Just double checking before I start packing my bags.

Hrm, that's a good question. Reasonably? Yes it would be fine... but airport security is rarely sane, let alone reasonable. But really, worst you can be is out a couple quicklights.

Ive taken quicklights, foil, tongs, tobacco, a hookah, and a hose. Checked them all in. The guys at the xray machine had me pull it out and explain what the club was for. After I put it together they said oh its just a peace pipe and let me take it on the plane.

I know... but I don't want them to freak out and search my bag, possibly holding it over for a week or more (plausible with the airline security paranoia, methinks). Problem is, I've heard QLs have something similar to gunpowder in them... That's a no-no for checked luggage as far as I know. Hence the reason I ask.

 It has some sort of lighting fluid / accelerant, that's not close to gun powder but obviously it lends itself to starting fires...

You probably can, but it has to be checked otherwise your bags will be opened and if you are randomly searched for explosives they will scan the item and it will come up as accelerant which will probably get it confiscated.

If your going somewhere were you can probably buy some just leave it at home and save yourself the hassle.

Thanks Mike! I'm probably worrying too much but given the random attacks of paranoia that airport security tends to get these days, I'll just buy what I need at my destination.
By the way, natural coals should be fine?

Well if you can get natural coals at ur destination than again like others have said get it there. And as far as your bag being kept for an extended period of time probably wont happen...it hasnt to me yet and im arab....believe me I learned to keep my bags unlocked after they broke the locks on one of my bags.
