Have Any Of You Ever Shipped A Handgun Before?

I know there is quite a few gun lovers on these boards so hopefully one of ya'll has a concrete answer for me. I've been trying to sell a S&W K-Frame 19-3 Revolver for quite awhile and with no real interest locally I'm turning to an attempt to sell it on Gun Broker online. However before I put it up for auction I wanted to make sure I've got the details of how to ship this thing down so it's not a hassle later. I've read quite a few different things online now and each thing seems to conflict itself as to how to go about shipping a handgun. So far what i've gathered is that FedEx is probably my best bet, shipped overnight, and I need to let them know theres a handgun in it when I ship as well as have a copy of the FFL it's being shipped to. Does anyone have any experience in shipping a handgun this method or just shipping one period?

Why???

Don't just stick that in without any input...waste of time, the guy has a legitimate concern that he is asking for advice on.

Victim: I never had any experience with the sorts, I'd imagine that you just have to alert them. I'd call up UPS or FedEX and find out their standards.

...the hell you talkin bout?

@OP You should check out a firearms forum if you have any doubts, they'll have a larger experience base with that sort of thing.

http://www.gunbroker.com/Support/SupportFA...8&NoCount=1 I did find that on gunbroker.com which seems to more or less clear it up.

My understanding is that you take your gun to a local gun shop, they package it with all the correct documents, and ship it to a gun shop near the winner of the auction.

Unless I'm wrong, you always have to ship gun shop to gun shop.

Thanks for your less then helpful advice...

And yeah I checked out the shipping regulations on Gun Broker's site, but as many other gun forums show it seems like you need to ship gun shop to gun shop. Hence why I'm so confused and actually looking for someone who's done this once or twice before. I'm gonna call fedex tommorrow more then likely just to nail it down completly, if I get the time at least.

Thanks, the gun actually sold in less then 6 hours being on Gun Broker last night so I'm giving a local gun dealer that does FFL transfers a call today to find out how much this is gonna cost me.
