This Is Why I Love The Greek Life

I always was a neigh sayer about sororities, but also with the drunken frat boys....

this just stepped it up a notch for me tongue.gif

This happened around 4am at my school, about 4blocks from my apartment.
http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/news/1...668/detail.html

It was a disgusting mess, I heard that that is the frat house that is known for slipping roofies.

over the yrs there has been back and forth retaliations...roughly in my time here, three frats have been burnt down...and there is always little crap. Bout a month ago, someone keyed the crap out of a bunch of sorority cars two doors up from this one.
Apparently Halloween someone burned ONE car at the same place as this fire

...this is going to be another chapter in my auto-biography entitled "I Hate People"

well i'm glad your knocking greek life form something GDI's did...

secondly... and dont take this personally... but without greek life most colleges wouldnt run. period. simple as that. argue it however you want.

greeks run almost all of your freshman meetup/events during the year
they are being damn near every major charity your school will ever do.
they put in more volunteer hours than the rest of the student bodies combined.
they lead your gpa's
they are your biggest alumni donaters to the school post college.

this may not be advertised.. but have a chat with your resident greek advisor on the schools staff... they'll enlighten you.

and the stuff frats normally get bashed for? happens at house parties as well, that just doesnt get the press because they are an orginization

Apparently you didnt read the thread...

Well, IUP's greek life is a waste....Only one active one here is actually recognized for charity and community service...the rest are all about the drinking, drugs, and sex.
on top of that....I don't really participate in much of the school's activities(because they usually suck) other than political events, which are sponsored by the Poli Sci dept/clubs

it sounds like the people that did it only did it because the fraternity kicked them out of a party. Not really their fault.

This.

Let it be a lesson: never scorn jealous nerds half-cocked on wine coolers and with access to gasoline.

now I get it... I love urbandictionary

2. GDI 577 up, 165 down
God-Damn Independent: term used by college students to refer to a non-Greek student. In a derogatory sense, it is used to refer only to those who choose to bash the Greek system. Contrary to popular belief, it is possible for Greeks and GDIs to be friends. Despite the party's location on Greek Row, many of the people who showed up were GDIs.

Maybe you should move to Canada rivet, we don't have Fraternities here tongue.gif (In fact this thread is the first time I've ever heard the word "Greek" used in application to one).

In this country, we party our asses off in high school when grades don't matter for shit, that way we get it out of our systems so we can crack down in University and not throw our lives away tongue.gif

and bash frats all you want 'bro'. we are still the leaders of the country in EVERY single aspect. just because you only read about the shit side of frats on your campus, doenst mean their not doing good. do some research and then talk shit. you wont have as much to talk about i promise.

Six, what fraternity do you belong to? The national HQ of mine (LCA) is in indiana. And like a few people said, fraternities get a bad name because people do studies mostly on fraternities or sports teams, just as much crap happens other places its just it gets more light shed on it if anything bad happens at a fraternity because its so stereotypical/easy to make a fraternity the whipping boy. A ton of charity is done through fraternities and sororities, they are put together to make you a better person and citizen. The beer girls and fun are a bonus wink.gif.

Is it just an Ontario thing? I know there aren't any in Sask or Quebec, and I'm pretty sure there aren't any in Alberta or BC.

Now are all the Sigma Chi's gonna have a meeting and discuss what should be done?

"Bro, some cars got torched at our Chapter in IUP, bro!"

"Ah dude, bro, that's so shitty bro! So not legit, bro"

"Well Bros, I guess all we can do is drink Jager Bombs and pop our collars bros! Hella!"

"Bros! did you take my bag of black dildo's again?"

"Yeah Bro! We sprayed Axe all over them then shotgunned Natty Ice and then we blacked out bro"

"Awww broooos! Awesome! Did you play smash brothers naked, wearing only flip flops and golf visors!???"

"You know it bro!!!! Fuck yeah!"

I go to the University of Washington.
We have Phi Delts here but they got reorganized which pretty much killed the house.
They were one of the biggest on campus before and have a sick house.

Im in DU's or Delta Upsilon which is pretty big here.

Damn i dont think shit like that would go down here.
Sigma Chi is a big house tho.

my roommate is a phi delt. they're all pretty cool and don't do any of the gay shit that most people hate on frats for. i wasn't ever into it because the philanthropy stuff is dumb imo. taking time out of my life to do stuff for people i have no interest in helping just wasn't a selling point. and the dues. paying to be friends with people i already know pretty well doesn't make sense. i'd rather make friends the old fashioned way.

just my .02
