MrMoodz
Where I live now I have COX cable for high speed internet. Where I will be moving next weekend, the property uses Qwest for high speed. The connection is supposed to be 3 megabytes per second. I think the COX connection I have a home might be faster. Would using a 3 meg DSL connection effect online gaming speed and lag? SuburbanSmoker
depends on the game and where the closet hub is.

Bye bye now have fun
speed has nothing to do with lag. you can have a very fast connecting that huge lag (like filling a plane with hardrives and flyin them somewhere) or a slow connection that isnt laggy at all. id say stay away from comcast, cox and roadrunner they all are horrible
Gold Wing Gunner
meh speed can definatley affect lag, atleast in like CS and Dod (Thats what I mostly play) But it also depends on distance, and even weather conditions. Not to mention are you sure its not your computer? Maybe you need some more RAM.

Gold Wing Gunner
oh my bad I was thinkin pc, yeah id say its probly your connection then, and make sure you dont have a bunch of spare wire that your connection is running thorough, youd be suppries how much that can affect it. And try not to splice the line.

Bulldog_916
I've heard good things about SureWest as well. Great service and really fast speeds. I have comcast and have good things to say about it generally. The modem is the choke point though, unfortunately. I dont have the money, or the will to go get a higher rated one. nathan_Choi
For GAMING I would say that DSL or Cable wont make much of a difference either way. I remember trying to game on 56k back in the day... goddamn lol. But DSL and cable will both suffice for today's games, with little to no lag either way. NickReppinThe909
try and get verizon FiOS i have the 20mbps up/down and i have never lagged before, people that have shitty connection will get pissed off though bcuz if they lag you can run up and knife them (COD4 FTW)
MrMoodz
YAY! Qwest DSL is upgrading its technology where I live so my connection will go from 3 megs to 7 megs. They offer a 12meg or 20meg upgrade but that is with a 2 year commitment. Xboxlive is already running well and it will be even better for the same price. SilentBob
it all depends on the ISP's routing. i've hear qwest has some of the worst routing, i've had nothing but good connections with cox. also the "3mb" or whatever they advertise is rarely what you get, it's "up to 3mb" not minimum.
