Victim026
Well after finding the Starlight Coconut coals locally for $3.99 compared to $7.99 at MNH, I went back today to go restock myself on the Starlight Coco's. Today though, in addition to the Starlight's, they had some of John's CH Instant Light Coconut coals in stock. Since I haven't had the opportunity to try these yet I decided to pick up a box.... at the price of $8.99 which I thought was fair for the price even though at the time I had no clue what John retails them at. Come to find out they are $13.99 through John which just blows my mind that they can be that much cheaper locally when I would think they have to source them straight from John to begin with. Victim026
Well we got 3 bowls going tonite with the CH quicklights, one bowl of Tangiers Schnozberry, one of AF Cocktail, and one of AF Orange/Mint mix. The CH coals worked very very well and were easy to dial in the heat management. The ash also sticks to the coal quite well so it makes ashing easy with very little getting in the bowl. That said I was a little concerned when I first lit them as they smelled of expended fireworks and actually caught flame which surprised my friends and I quite a bit. During the acutal smoke session we didn't experience any odd taste though so I believe the coals are pretty good to go. I won't be switching from my Starlights though as I like them a bit better , but I will keep a box or two of the CH quick lights on hand at all times for when I take the hookah out somewhere and won't have access to a coil burner to light the starlights. Overall I give them a 9/10. Edited December 9, 2008 by Victim026
