Acclimating Tangiers

Recommended Posts

Yes acclimating is a must if you want any taste outta your tangiers. What I did was just read the directions and left it out for the 4-6 hours it says to, but mine still didn't smell quite like the full flavor so I left it out for 28 hours (pretty much over night) and it was perfect the next day. All there is to do with acclimating is open it up in a gladware jar and keep the top off letting the tobacco get humidity and stir it all the time. I put mine on a sheet of foil and turned it every hour about. Good luck with yours I'm sure you'll love it!

I actually bought my first 100g yesterday of some Kashmir Apple and when I first opened it it smelled pretty much like Apple and then after about 2 hours of being out it started smelling more like the soy/bbq sauce it talks about in the Tangiers Wiki. So who knows, I'm just gonna leave it out an hope for the best.

once you opened it up it probably suffered humidity shock since its use to CA Humidity.

Just got my first tangiers, the orange soda i THINK smells almost right, has weird rough undertone, also the smell is pretty faint, you have to be pretty close to smell it. Blueberry smells really weird, its "on its way" to smell like blueberry but it still smells like something else too. I have acclimated both for around 23h, stirring it around pretty often. ( I have spread the tobacco out in a thin layer on some foil). Kind of scared that it wont get any better, as it is now its totally unsmokable. I have read so much about how great tangiers is, i probably just need to wait a bit longer. One thing i noticed is that tangiers is rather similar to nakhla when it comes to the wetness, its more "oily" than af/fantasia wet, my heat management will fail ohmy.gif Edited by Kapten Kanel

you will smoke it for 5 minutes before you get sick if you dont acclimate it. and it will have no flavor. just take the time and acclimate it.you will regret it when youre out of tangiers and you remember the bowl you wasted in the beggining.
