Capt. Morgan
Okay so we went from virtually no humidity yesterday to 89% today. I've been enjoying lucid but I've been wanting to to step up ti the OG Tangiers. With the constant changes in weather and humidity would it be worth it? Virtually never will be able to smoke in the same place I acclimate it and don't want to have to acclimate it every other day.

I was going to say, if we can do it in Pittsburgh, you should be able to do it just about anywhere. The burgh always has crazy fluctuating humidity and temp. One day it'll be 90 percent and 70, and 24 hours later it'll be 40 percent and 30 degrees out.
GreatPigHookah
It's ABSOLUTE humidity that affects it, not RELATIVE humidity. You are looking at relative humidity, not absolute humidity as determined by the dew point. Relative humidity does not matter at all. Acclimate until it smells right then smoke it. Capt. Morgan
Cool. Guess I'm just gonna have to give it a try.
vin13
I will say that my friend and I in Austin Tx are lucky to get 1/2 of our Tangiers smelling decent. This is both Lucid and OG. Regardless of acclimation some of our orders just don't turn out well at all.
Hippo_Master
Unless you are smoking inside, I wouldn't buy it.If you are smoking inside, then you have climate control right? You do live in texas so I am assuming that the summer is pretty harsh so you do. It should be no problem inside. Smoking in a different area then where you acclimated it will cause it to go into humidity shock and you will have to acclimate it all over again. When you acclimate tangiers inside, then smoke outside it will be a bad smoke. Those are two different climates. Edited December 9, 2008 by Hippo_Master

Guess I'm just gonna have to try and see how it goes. Worse comes to worse I'll acclimate it best I can then load the bowl and let it set out in advance. Those are two different climates.Nope. That is, in general, NOT true. It can be 60F inside and 80F outside and still be the same absolute humidity, which is what can cause humidity shock with Tangiers. The relative humidity will be different, but that isn't what is important. It will smoke different inside versus outside because the ambient temperature is so different - it will require different heat management. If you get bad smoke it's more likely heat management issues because the ambient temps are so different than what you are used to. Kathrynx
If you were in Amarillo, you'd have no problem!Even though its snowing there today...and I'm missing smoking out while its snowing and being in the hot tub.
newjacksm
Long Island has crazy humidity which leads me to believe its hard to have Tangiers smoking right but i think once you have it acclimating more then 3-5 days it should be ready regardless because like everyone said it's absolute humidity.Edit:: But I could be wrong... Because even though I have acclimated it for 4 days now and still letting it acclimate I still have harshness/tickle in the back of my throat but I am still getting taste Edited December 9, 2008 by newjacksm
Kathrynx
Oh, I forgot to mention...Japan is humid like crazy, I mean, not even in Corpus Christi Texas did I feel this kind of humidity. Of course, that was summer, and this is winter now...but its still warm and dewy all the time. We are inside, and get tangiers acclimated and smoking just fine. Stuie
I smoked outside the other day, Melon Blend (seriously not trying to rub it in Kathryn) I acclimate inside in North Texas 75, and outside was 40 and it was great.

Capt. Morgan
Well I think I'm just gonna have to try and hope for the best. What is the general consensus on Static Starlight? From the reviews I've read it sounds interesting.
Tom1
Definitly try it, if I can get it going good when it sits in a shipping truck for seven days in 15-30 degree weather I'm sure you'll be fine.

I'm saying that and I'm not a fan of most grape shisha.
