clickhea
are the AF flavors more pronounced than the tangiers flavors?i seem to get alot better flavor with AF than i do tangiers, which sucks cause i love the buzz tangiers gives me. mattarios2
AF has been having quality issues according to others, I have had no probs, but anyways,AF has great flavor but is more of a candy/sweet flavor, tangiers is just more of a realistic flavor when you set it up properly as others have stated. You may notice better taste from AF but this is only because AF is easy to smoke, tangiers takes practice to set up properly. You can't really say which has more flavor ... it is all based on preference, but they both offer incredible flavor that you will taste and not say, what flavor is this it tastes like nothing. But as much as tangiers is better i still have sessions where its smoking perfectly but still not too much flavor, then i wont change anything the next session it will smoke just the same only with 1000 times more flavor. Scoop
strange, tangiers is easily the best tasting highest quality tobacco you can buy in the us. cant even compare it to AF on its worst day. not sure why you dont get flavor though, thats unfortunate. mattarios2
That's the thing though, requires too much work for me. I packed a million diff. techniques and sometimes it would be awesome and sometimes it would suck, would always acclimate for hours on end before smoking, used low heat, big holes poked all the way through, packed it correctly, also tried small holes, less shisha, a shit ton of shisha, tons of heat, a tiny bit of heat, I tried everything and sometimes went awesome and sometimes sucked, I am not down to deal with that. Shisha smoking is for relaxation not frustration, just was too variable for me and my friends. I personally think it depends on where you live and in New England where I'm from, the weather changes every 10 minutes.
mattarios2
oh and also (sorry for another post, was past two min. so I couldn't add to my previous post)I lately have been preferring nakhla, flavors are just as money, buzz is just as good, it is less than half the price of tangiers, and there is no fuss with it.Not knocking tangiers at all because I once loved it and it is an amazing shisha, just not for me apparently as others have already stated. Stuie
packing it as tight as humanly possible in a phunnel always produces the best taste in my opinion but I usually do Snoopy's packing method cause I don't smoke that long.Sounds like an acclimation of humidity shock issue. Still not sure if you can recover from humidity shock.Do you store in air tight containers? that could be another issue.

SmokinMoose
Well if you are using alot of ICE in your water and your Ice Chamber you wont taste the flavour as much. Try using lukewarm water.
inino
if by acclimating 24/7 you mean that the tobacco is sitting un covered all day then it could be drying out which would make flavor loss.
ColibriDon
When I first saw the title of this thread, I thought it was a joke topic. As far as packing Tangiers, I just use a technique that I got off of one of the videos here. Basically, all I do is put a pinch in and push it around the phunnel. That may be hard to visualize but you put some tobacco in and then push it to a section of the ring around the center and then take another pinch and push it against the previous pinch. I just keep doing this until the bowl is full then put some in the top of whatever areas are loose. For the hole pattern I do a circle on the outside, followed by a smaller circle in the center and then four holes in a square pattern in between the two circles. I think I got this whole pattern (Minus the four square-patterned holes) from rigor. That seems to work out pretty well every time. The only variable is my heat management but I use three cocos in a triangle pattern on the outside of the bowl. Those coals are right on the edge throughout the first 30-45 minutes of the session then, when they're small, I push them more into the center and start another coal. I keep doing this and the session lasts as long as I do. Sorry for the pseudo-thread jack but I hope this helps a little. Back on topic! Tangiers has a very strong flavor that is extremely consistent. With AF's dice roll quality, I think it's a better bet to go with Tangiers if you can get it going but it's not for everyone--indicated by the amount of people who can't get it done well. heheGood luck!
