For a CRT it sounds like you got a decent deal for sure. I would've spent the same amount of money on an LCD though. Or even a DLP TV. You can get refresh rates that are the same, if not higher, for the same price on an HDTV. And refresh rates are all CRT had on Plasma and LCD before they got better. Color on LCD is better.

I'm not expecting it to be as good as the newest of the new plasmas and lcds, but for 300 bucks all your going to get is a 22" lcd lol so i think a 51" crt which will have a decent picture which i think can be comparable to the lcds coming out a few years ago, especially with the ability to tweak and calibrate crts. ive done more research and it seems to be a good set and last year ppl were paying over 800 for them ... ill post pics when i get it.

also its the same size as most rptv, actually a little slimmer and 150lbs isn't horrible for a 51" tv. Edited by zeppyrkr

The only real downside to rear projection is of course the terrible, terrible viewing angle. A friend of mine has a pretty big one and that is terrible when there are lots of people over trying to TV/play games.

My friend has a similar 1080i 52" CRT (which is that ones native resolution). The picture is great on his, I don't think you will be disappointed, especially for that price. The thing is gonna be HUGE, but if it is anything like my buddies, it will be really light. The only thing is that that particular TV will only display in 480i or 1080i, so the image is a bit dodgy if its not displayed in 1080i, but it's not too bad. I highly recommend that you get HD programming, and don't try to display anything in 720i/p ... it will look FUNKED up.
