Why Do They Put Anise In Apple Shisha?

Recommended Posts

I was under the (mis???)information that the "anise" flavour was a result of glycyrrhizin used, not a result of a star anise seed.

glycyrrhizin causes a rapid, and dramatic drop in testosterone when eaten, wonder what it does when smoked?

I think that the reason that the DA flavors all have a strong anise taste is because of smoking out of a fruit bowl. If you take a red apple, and smoke any other kink of tobacco through it you will always get a hint of the DA taste. Just my .02

Its supposedly has something to do with Arak (Anise and brandy liqueur), which is anise flavored, its supposed to have a "bad-boy" flavor as Arak is kinda popular,

Bingo! That's the word in Cairo at least - Nakhla DA is flavored similarly to Arak (which IMO tastes like crap) but it is pretty popular in Egypt.

Double Apple was the gateway for me from Apple to straight up Licorice.

I went: AF Apple > AF Bahraini Apple > AF Double Apple > AF Licorice.

I think most sane people would have put on the brakes earlier but I'm happy as a clam!

The anise flavor will come in and out, based on humidity, but Nahkla double apple is actually apple, anise and rose.

If a company that makes an Apple, Rose, and Licorice flavor and wants to make a Double Apple, do they actually blend their Apple, Rose and Licorice tobaccos, or is it more sophisticated than that?

Or.. For a Lemon Mint, would they combine their Lemon and their Mint?

Been wondering this for awhile, glad you reminded me to ask!
