Ridiculidity
I've been wanting to put milk in the vase for awhile now (I'm told it makes the smoke thicker), but I never had any or when I did I used it before I could put it in there. Anyways, last night I finally did and I'm just wondering, is there some kind of trick to it? As soon as I started smoking, it was bubbling over from the pressure and got all in the hose and stem. I poured out half the milk, replaced it with some water and it just kept doing that... I dunno, someone tell me what I did wrong! I was getting pretty good smoke for the few pulls I took, but I feel like a fool!
kbCorruption
Wow that sounds like a terrible idea. I hope you washed that out really good. What flavor did you uses. I can't think of many flavors that would go good with milk. Maybe chocolate...
r1v3th3ad
everyone around will recommend against milk...the only way I know to do it is use a normal base (water or juice) and use one to two cap fulls of milk in it, thats it.Otherwise, you're gonna have what happened to you and ruin a hose amongst other things
mustang_steve
Have you ever shaken a plastic jug of milk?It froths up. I used to do this to chocolate milk cartons before opening them when i was in grade school because I preferred the frothy texture. This is why one should not use pure milk in a hookah, it will froth up and end up in your hose. AKammenzind
Yeah, as said you're using too much milk... I find that any more than 1/4 milk or so is just too much. To be honest there's no reason to use milk though, doesn't seem to make any difference. If you really want to try something different take crushed ice and coconut milk and use that... might do something for the density, but it's doubtful. They just told me I would get REALLY thick smoke (and I did for a couple of pulls), but obviously I wasn't thinking. I'm gonna have to talk to her about this. And whoever asked about the flavor, I was mixing it with strawberry and bit of vanilla. Don't remember if it tasted good, was too busy focusing on the problem at hand.

wilarseny
QUOTE (voski @ Dec 16 2008, 07:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Coconut milk wont bubble. It does, though somewhat depending on the water content inside. First time I smoked with it, it was fine, stayed out of the hoses. Tried it again, and I had a stinky mess all up in the hose.
sss8789
What if you microwave it then let it cool, because when you make lattes and whatnot your not suppose to microwave the milk because it doesn't froth as well?
Sonthert
And then milk gets in little nooks and crannies and goes rotten and sour. Ew!

Hippo_Master
How would milk make smoke thicker? I don't understand that logic at all. Just because milk is thick doesn't mean it imprints it's thickness onto your smoke. And are you seriously surprised milk bubbles like that? antouwan
here's an idea:make some irish tea - i find barry's to be better than twining's, but twining's is more readily available - sweeten to your preference, and then add a touch of milk to your liking. return milk to fridge.now put water (ice optional) and put the water into your hookah base.end. indian_villager
If you really wanted thicker smoke you could have just opted for Ice in the vase....or more heat up top.
modisess
just use water.. ain't no milk going to get you some thick clouds.but if you insists, try 20% milk and 80% water in the base.

And are you seriously surprised milk bubbles like that?Ah well I was told it would make it thicker, so I figured why not try it out? Obviously it was a bad idea and I usually don't put anything other than juice or water in the vase, so I thought I'd see how this went. (and it did have some really thick smoke going there before the bubbles kicked in haha I haven't had my own pipe for all that long, so I still have common sense issues. (part of the reason i'm here is to learn, anyway.)But thanks for suggestions, all.

Kapten Kanel
AF strawberry with strawberry icecream in the base was an interesting experience, defineatly made a nice difference in taste, but , the icecream gets "foamy", i dont know how i managed to not get any into the hose. Ew!My thoughts exactly. Then when the pipe gets skanky, and they fire it up some mid-july day we will all get to read a post about how bad some hapless manufacturer's shisha tastes.
