kameleon
I usually use Starlight coals and I've never had a problem, but the past few times that I've used Three Kings coals I've had what seems like an allergic reaction ( my eyes start watering, I start coughing, and after that my throat closes up and it's hard to breathe.) I've heard of people being allergic to charcoal before, but I'm wondering if any of you have heard anything similar about these coals? I'm also trying to figure out what's in the Three Kings coals that's not in any of the other brands that I use so that I can avoid a trip to the hospital. -Any help is greatly appreciated. Also you really should consider switching to naturals trust me you will never look back.
modisess
probably you are just allergic to the starters that they coat the coals with? anyways, like IV said, go with natural coals..EDIT : hmm, arent starlights naturals as well? kameleon
I do use natural coals, but I mainly use instant light coals because I'm impatient and usually in a hurry. Overall I'm just curious to find out what's in them that I'm allergic to because I've never been allergic to anything before. Somebody has mentioned the starter in the coals before, but I don't know what chemicals they use and they won't disclose that information to me. Majid
Hmm..do you make sure to light the coals fully before putting them on the bowl? They have to burn red hot.
kameleon
Yeah, I usually use the burners of a stove to light them.
