SixPackSunday
i need a database setup for a website. its a fairly large database. it included several drop downs, variants, rating systems, and comments. as well as needing to be fully searchable based on my criteria. i'll pay you well... but the company i just got off the phone with quoted me 8k - 20k and thats INSANE for what i'm looking for... i would sooner teach myself the programming required. also i already have EVERY bit of the raw data already in a spreadsheet for you. so that should help a ton

Evildave
Well, there's always factors involved but i do agree the first pricequote does seem excessive.Do you require hosting for said database? How many changes required will it have to be integrated into a specific website? will there be programming required to integrate to the website? is there a support contract? All these things... add money. And knowing a friend that's in the business of making websites/slicing sometimes it's a lot of work, and customer sometimes call back " just to make this one tiny minie change"... like 20 times. So they quote the big numbers, making sure that they're getting paid for all eventualities.
