yashman19
I use these type of ceramic bowls anyways, and I have to say I really like the screen that comes with it. I think the reason I didn't like using screens in the past was because they didn't fit the ceramic chinese bowls that well, but with the screen that comes with this bowl, it fits perfectly, has a lot more holes than my other screen but the holes are smaller, so it works very well. I might actually start becoming a screen man instead of foil now... I just got this bowl about a week ago, and I'm loving it. Most of the time, I don't use the chimney thing though, I just leave it open.
ApoC
yea i had the same problem with screens, but i knew that a properly fitted screen would be superior to foil... that bowl sure looks great! they also sell that Taj (teardrop) wind cover there, IN GUNMETAL like my stargate, what to do???? AND to top it off they have a super long mya long handle hose in ROSEWOOD finish, I must have that.I need some coals, whats better, Romman natural coals or Al Ajdad (nour) natural coals? Seandoo
man those are awesome-looking. 2 questions though - does the top get really hot? cuz you know, sometimes you gotta add coal or change the bowl and whatnot. second, is how many times are those screens usually good for? is it one of those things that don't really need replacing or are they good for just a few shots? Just take care of em and try not to bend the tab too much, and just give it a good rinse after each session and it should be good forever. I just bought one of these bowls, but I haven't used the roof feature yet. I just left it uncovered but used the screen (I was inside).
Seandoo
thanks for the heads up! my brother and i were thinking of either getting screens, a bowl like this, or a pyrex just because we're getting sick of all the tricks foil -can- play on you if you're not careful..such as burning and getting black/brown around the holes, then tasting it without the shisha even burning....yeah. aluminum oxide = alzheimer's = ...well yeah i'm thinking bout them screens for a few reasons. again thanks! almost wanted to order like 10 of them or something hahaha. Sonthert
No. I never said anything about that. I have two boxes of Costco foil stashed away.
ioannisds
aluminum oxide = alzheimer's =
Not to start a flame war or anything, but from what I have read, the Alzheimer's/aluminum connection is nothing more than a definite maybe. From what I understand, the whole issue stemmed from a study done in the 60's that showed patients with Alzheimer's often had high levels of aluminum in their system. Researcher's thought it was from the drinking water they were exposed to. BUT, there were also other characteristics that those in the study shared, but that had nothing to do with the aluminum exposure. It's like doing a study of people who shoot heroin and drink orange juice. Most of the people in the study wake up dead in a pool of their own vomit (or someone else's vomit), and the researchers conclude it must have been the orange juice. If you guys are really that freaked out about aluminum, you better stop using deodorant, cooking in aluminum pots and pans, drinking soda, or buying burittos at Chipotle's. It is EVERYWHERE, and if I remember right, it is the most abundant metal on the planet. Plus, what do you think those metal screens are made of? Yup, you guessed it... Sonthert
Yeah, its funny how the medical world proceeds. If I find aluminum in the brains of Alzheimer's patients, stop them from having aluminum. Maybe they need more aluminum?! Halk joking, half serious. Some of the conclusions they reach the weirdo "other side" questions and proposes the dead opposite...Cholesterol in your arteries is bad. Less cholsterol. The weirdos say "Serious problem going on, your body is trying to stop your arteries from exploding." Cholesterol good. Who's right? Its unlikeyl that aluminum poses a significant threat. The most significant threat we have to our health is the crappy polluted air we are forced to breath and the radioactive material caused by the UN Security council's permanant members nuclear tests. [LB]
o nevermdin not online damit. How are you gonna get aluminum oxide- didnt some guy explain already that its impossible for the coal to get hot enough to release the harmful chemical in tinfoil anyway or something- i dont know about those covered bowls though. ApoC
those screens are made of stainless steel. aluminum is fine for you, and as far as i know aluminum oxide has never been proven to be bad for you (aluminum oxide comes from chemical reactions with aluminum, including burning it). i prefer stainless steel or glass/porcelain for smoking components that take a lot of heat.
