vegloo
So i had a question, right now i'm trying to clean my room...i let it get a little out of hand. So, i moved my hookah because i didn't want it to get broken while i was cleaning my room (small room). However, the only room my parents would let me move it to is in our basement in my band room...the heat doesn't really flow well into that room so it stays probably around 60 degrees. I realize that's not even good for my band equipment, so i was wondering if it will affect my hookah at all. I don't store any tobacco down there, just the hookah itself. However, would it be too cold in that room to store the tobacco as well? I'm trying to make more room in my room, so basically is there anything hookah-related that could break/harm being in that cold of a room? Thanks a lot guys! Sariél
Well, the rubber grommits or the hose might crack if it gets down to -20⋅℉ or so (that's -34℃ for you Godless Europeans). Otherwise you oughta be OK.
wilarseny
Temperature variation is bad for something like a band instrument because the heat/cold changes the resonance and intonation of the instrument itself, and for string instruments or something like an oboe or bassoon that's made of wood, it can cause cracks due to thermal expansion. But since your hookah doesn't need to vibrate at a specific pitch, and I would hope you don't have one made of wood, it should be fine.
SimplexCoda
QUOTE (wilarseny @ Dec 20 2008, 07:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>But since your hookah doesn't need to vibrate at a specific pitch. How do you know this? I mean mine hits a nice middle-low G everytime i take a puff. Ok but seriously storing the hookah and the tobacco down there shouldnt be an issue. as long as the tobacco stays at a temp close to the environment it will be used in it should be fine.
