angelhaiku
I need help! I have a hooka and we always light it up and put it on the coffee table. Well... it's been pulled too hard before and the coal has fallen onto the carpet and burned holes in it. Just tonight it fell off and burned holes in the couch (and broke the base, oops!)I'm wondering if there is any such thing that will keep the coal contained if the pipe were to fall over? like a cage type thing? Anyone ever heard of something like this?I'm just pretty fed up with my house getting burned to pieces because of a stupid piece of charcoal. MrMoodz
QUOTE (fedaykin @ Dec 22 2008, 05:32 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>yup, called a wind shield or cover, you can find them on most sites that sell hookahs under accesoriesAgreed 100%. Windcovers are a must in my house. Plus they help with heat management. Accidents happen but you must be diligent in being cautious around your hookah and make sure your guests are made aware of the dangers of live hookah coals. I recently have been using coconaras almost exclusively because of their shape and longevity. When I was using Nours, 3 Kings, and even Exoticas, coals would vibrate off or spark onto areas surrounding the hookah... thus leaving burn marks on coffee tables or carpet. When I smoke hookah these days, I have rugs set aside that I lay out before each session(s). This has saved a lot of heartache.
fedaykin
While we are on the subject...is there any wind covers out there that are large enough to fit over a KM bowl? The only ones I've seen are too small and don't reach all the way to the tray. My KM bowl sits much further above the tray than any of my other hookahs have. I use a Tanquery tin as my windcover and it fits over a phunnel on my KM

If you use one you should take a torch or something to it first. TizaNabi
take a piece of heavy duty tin foil and make an inch border or more around the rim.
hippomania7
if you want to be ghetto, Buy a stainless steel mesh strainer in the pots/pans/kitchen stuff aisle of a walmart or grocery store. Its usually 1-3 bucks. Then cut out the mesh part, and shape it with needle nose plyers so that the prickly ends are bent upwards. Then Put it on top of the coals/bowl and it clamps on nicely. Yea, its ghetto, but it works.http://www.hookahforum.com/?showtopic=26077
fifthmanstanding
best wind cover ever: pull out an 8 inch section of foil (distance from box to hand, not top to bottom), take the sheet and wrap it around the bowl, leaving a good 6 inch portion of it's top to bottom length above the bowl. Voila, instant wind cover that's easily replaceable and easily reusable.
Stuie
Definitely do the windcover but here's another little tip.Get a small towel and fold it in half and put it under the hookah. It will displace vibrations between the base and the coffee table and make even your hardest pulls a bit less vibrato on your bowl.
