What Do You Think My Odds Are?

Recommended Posts

It's only making a 60 mile journey from Austin to San Antonio, although it has been on a Fedex truck all day... So what say you friends, do you think with maybe an hour's acclimation it'll be ready to smoke?

What I've noticed is different flavors react differently. Very rarely will I smoke Tangiers without acclimating unless I'm extremely impatient one day, but the couple times I've tried it I've had mixed results. Blueberry and Passion Fruit both were fine out of the bag, though obviously after acclimation both became less harsh. Raspberry and Maraschino Cherry both were horrid out of the bag. Those are the four I've tried unacclimated, and two succeeded.. 50% odds? Though obviously 4 flavors is not a representative sample... Edited by wilarseny

Smell it after you open it. If it has a bbq smell then for sure acclimate it. I would acclimate no matter what because there's nothing worse than setting up your hookah and getting everything prepared only to find out the tobacco isn't ready.

What matters is the dewpoint when we made it. If I seal the package when the dewpoint is 60F here, and you open it when the dewpoint is 60F at your house, it will smoke fine. Also, if it smells burnt or like soy sauce. Thats humidity shock, too.

I got some grape that was smokeable about an hour after I opened it. I'm in Connecticut, maybe it's the flavor or maybe it was the dew point, either way, I was very happy! Grape is my new 2nd favorite after spearmint from Tangiers =)
