Hookah Modding

Recommended Posts

After work tonight I'll have 3 days off so I'm going to mod my hookah today to make them a fun 3 days. Here's my plans

1-Diffuser: Melting a mouth piece at the end of the stem and making lots of tiny holes in it.

2-Ice bag?: Not sure how successful this one will be, I'm going to try to plop in a bad (or a bunch of little ones) filled with water so I can put the shisha vase in the freezer right away instead of having to put ice cubes in it's water every time (the ice cubes melt really fast anyways). I'm just afraid the bags will tear or clog up the air flow.

3-Y-connector: This is the hardest one: Going to try to make a Y-connector so I can connect two hoses to one opening and leave the purge intact. My first thought is a small pepsi bottle (0.5 liter), with punctures to enter the two hoses in, and then use cardboard to wedge it on the outlet.

Any more ideas or suggestions ?

Okay, I made the diffuser, it's definitely not the best I can make but I was really tired after work so it'll have to do for now.

Next thing I worked on was a 2-hose-1-outlet adapter, I tried a few ways and burned myself a few times but in the end it all worked out, I attached this 2 liter pepsi bottle (I'm afraid it might be a little too big), and made two holes in it, I've tested it and it's air tight.

The best thing about it is you can put some of the black tape I used to air-seal it to seal one of the holes and tada, you have an extra cooling device added to your shisha, and it goes from single to double mode in a second.

The bad part is that it topples the shisha, making it heavy from one side. (any idea how to fix that ?)

I'll be posting pics of it in action if it works properly (it should), maybe even a video if I'm really bored. biggrin.gif

Well, thanks for all your help and support people. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Sorry guys I can't test it just yet (burnt the carpet three times and not allowed to use it without supervision xD)

I think sucking out of it will be a tough job, I'm going to try using a smaller one if this one is too much, but I'd absolutely love watching the 2 liter bottle fill with smoke.

I still don't know what I'll do about the ice, for now I'll use ice-cubes, lots of them.

another thing that would be sweet would be throw some ice in that hose port mod thing

Wouldn't work because the ice would just melt, bubble up in the bottle and go down the hose air intake back into the vase. Basically would be a mess.

Whether or not this adapter works for 2 hoses, there's no reason why it wouldn't work for one hose so I'll still use it. Extra cooling. w00t

That is one hell of an idea man

Would making the holes that the hoses go in closer to the neck of the bottle work? It would bring the weight of the hoses closer to the hookah, and make the entire rig less likely to tip over. It would still fill with smoke even(?) Edited by Brain Damage

If you have a hardware store near you invest in a little bit of tubing and a T fitting so you can make yourself a splitter. And as mentioned earlier use a smaller bottle. Also place the holes for the hoses closer to where the bottle meets the hookah.

Thats crazy. I wish I was that creative into modding because I would be coming with stuff like that all the time, but alas, Im not a creative soul.

Im thinking I should possibly nurture that side of me some more to see what can potentially be born of my twisted mind.

And you dont get a funky flavor after the epoxy sets??

Thats actually pretty cool and I could do that on my own. Hmm, ideas now run amuck in my head.

no funky flavor, no. But that's likely because the epoxy is in a place where smoke doesnt go past it. There is a lot of overlap where the angled fittings fit into the tee fitting, and the epoxy is on the outside of the contraption.
