SixPackSunday
so i'm a member of a couple cigar forums as welll (maybe i should make a forum for forum addicts? lol)and on theres this guy who makes REALLY high end humidors as a side hobby... several business owners have tried to get him to go pro with it to supply their shops, but he wont do it. only friends and forum members.... so i've wanted a humi from him for a while... well today he posted that he just received some 50,000 year old wood! he's only got enough to make about 5 humidors with... so i pm'ed him asking if he could make me one and what the tag was on it... so for a 150-200 ct CUSTOM humidor.... matching ashtray... matching pipe stand (why not? lol)i'll be paying around 100 a month for the next 7 months... this is far and above what i'm generally willing to spend on anything... but since he said he preferred monthly payments, and that dampens the hit on my wallet i agreed....it'll be 9-12 months before its at my door.. he's also putting my family initials on it so i can use it as a family piece for my children etc. links to his work:http://www.cigarlive.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27365http://www.cigarlive.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27707http://www.cigarlive.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30198and link to the 50k old wood:http://www.cigarlive.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29351 Edited December 27, 2008 by SixPackSunday
gaia.plateau
Only $700? And it costs him $100 a foot? Won't that be a pretty small humidor? Does that include shipping?Looks pretty sweet though.
SixPackSunday
were still talking exact size... 150ct cigar isnt that small in reality.... it actually pretty decent size... its two woods... the 50k and my choice of another... were still discussing exact work.... i also asked him to ballpark me what it would cost to add legs and make this a 4ft stand alone... as i would much prefer it that way... just depends on the extra cost.... i figure i'll use cigarmony 70% beads in it.... just purchased a couple bills worth of cigars to go with it... i figure by the time this guy gets here they should be well aged... some cohibas, some rarer cao's, some opus x's
Dirk Skene
The price may be high, but I'll bet it'll be a fine piece of work. Shurly it will become an heirloom.

ColibriDon
<-----Envious. Seriously, that's awesome. Sure it's expensive but it's a small price to pay for something you'll enjoy for a lifetime and your kids will even enjoy (When they're old enough to smoke, that is. hehe)Good purchase! NUBBS
Ive looked for other ones, but Ive seen this humidor for shisha.http://www.airdiem.com/fiches/pdf/nar07.pdfI wounder what a difference it would make to smoke shisha from a humidor? SixPackSunday
i think that would turn out badly for you... the cedar would keep several of the smells from the shisha... and that in turn will seep back into your flavors you currently have....i think gladware is the best way you can keep shisha. period. Thanks for replying. I always wondered about it. Still wanna try. I always think about it when I screw up some Tangiers, mabye it could help acclimate it faster and longer. SixPackSunday
well the problem is that then your tangiers is acclimated to (presumably) 70% humidity... which i HIGHLY doubt the rest of your house is at.... so it wouldnt do any good... it would be kinda pointless... i THINK.. i was wrong once before
mustang_steve
This thread has me wondering about getting some beads that are at my aprtment's RH and storing shisha in tupperwares with those...That's going ot be one awesome humidor, I hope you really like it. For me, I just use jar humidors and a Cordoba I bought off of cheaphumidors.Really, the wood looks fantastic, perhaps consider getting an inlay around it in a darker wood to make it stand out.
