Acclimating Tangiers

I am a relatively long time smoker and a long time lurker of the forums. Most recently though I ordered my first flavor of Tangiers, and have been trying to follow the instructions on the package and from what I have read here. I ordered sour and was looking forward to smoking it/experiencing the magic that everyone says Tangiers is. The problem being, I have been acclimating for roughly 3 days now and it still smells like soy sauce. Any recommendations or tips would be helpful.

Are you stirring it each day and where are you acclimating it? Another thing could be weather fluctuations in your area causing it to have to reacclimate constantly, it's not uncommon for it to sometimes take a week if the weather is acting up.

if the room you're acclimating in smells like what the flavor is suppose to be, then you're ready to go. No matter how long you acclimate tangiers, if you smell it directly, it will smell weird.

3 days is plenty. Though i dont know what "sour" flavor is suppose to taste like, give it a shot. I usually acclimate for about 18 hours tops

I stir about every 2 hours and it has been acclimating in my room which is located in the center of the apartment. The weather has been relatively steady but we have jumped maybe 10-15 degrees outside but the apartment has stayed constant. Maybe sour is a subtle smell? From far away it is not as pungent but within 10 inches or so it still reeks like soy sauce.

Sour is supposed to taste like cranberry. It does, it's kind of a back of the tongue type flavor, you gotta let it sit to really taste it. I just had it for the first time today and it's pretty damn good.

or go to a pet store and buy a cheap humidity gauge (reptile section) and see what the humidity in your house is. I found that it acclimates for me much better in a dry area of the home, like a bath towel closet. Kitchen or near doors leading out side....not so much.
