Hiding The Hookah

Recommended Posts

I don't think I'd tell my mom. I live a solid 2500+ miles away from my parents so what she doesn't know won't hurt her. She's one of the worst drama queens I've ever known, which is at least one of the reasons for the distance. laugh.gif

When my dad visited I brought it out and offered him a smoke.

Had my mother over at my place the other day, she brought my cousins, i happened to be smoking at the time. My mother left and right away called me to chew me out over smoking it in front of them(though i wouldn't have if i knew they were coming). I said she smoked cigarettes in front of me all the time, but according to her, it's somehow "different". She even broke my old hookah by "accident" but i know it couldn't possibly break like that (downstem snapped off) from falling. Edited by Majid

well I sort of had to tell my parents about my hookah (i'm 23) because I was looking into opening a local hookah bar at my college and I wanted to get their input and see if they knew anyone looking to invest lol. But I did a sketch sitting in a restaurant and explained how it was used and they even asked me last christmas if I wanted to bring it home and smoke it on the porch. (dad's got asthma since he used to smoke so many cigars years before I was around lol)

But my gfs mother saw it the other day for the first time and asked what it was an i attempted to explain but somehow she related it to a documentary on Jimmy Chong (cheech and chong) and believed it to be a type of drug pipe no matter how i used it.

So everyone takes it differently but I'm sure it's a lot easier than telling htem you're addicted to an illegal drug or something lol.

Tommy Chong, man. Tommy.

I'm 19 still living at home and smoke like 5-6 times a week on the back porch. My parents don't like the fact that I smoke but my mother will come out and have a smoke every once in a while. I recently made up a little table for my hookah which required the use of my fathers tools and his infinite knowledge of woodworking. When we were finished he said "that was a pretty neat little project, just wish you weren't smoking." He smoked for like 42 years (pack and a half/day), has diabetes, congestive heart failure and blocked arteries in his legs. My parents (and me) are convinced its a fad that will die out soon.

I think you're just crazy... I'm around the same age as you but visit my parents once in a while (they live far). At first they were completely against the idea of smoking hookah. A few visits later they have their own KM, know how to pack a decent bowl, and ask me to bring them some AF smile.gif

I wouldn't hold it against her, I have a MYA acrylic that says its entirely possible since it was tipped over on concrete while not in use and it broke the stem in half.

when i first bought my hookah my mom thought it was nht also, then i showed her all of the packages of tobacco i was getting and she let me keep it/smoke outside. then when i bought AF mint she said it smelled so good that she had to try it and actually really liked it, once she realized that hookah smoke dosent stain/leave a horrid scent like cigerates she actually started to let me smoke inside and alot of the times even joins me on sessions (as long as it's not fruity flavors) of course most parents are going to be a bit skeptical, because yes hookah unfourtanatly has a bad name to some but give them a chance you never know whose going to be open minded.

I never had a problem with my mother. This Christmas I asked her to pick me up some tobacco, and she ended up buying me a whole
new hookah. She would happily support anything to get me to stop smoking cigarettes.

I say show it to em. Theres no sense in hiding it. I did for part of my first summer back from college and it sucked sneaking outside at night to smoke, then I thought what they'd think I was doing if they caught me, and that they probably wouldnt let me smoke, so one day I just brought it out and showed my mom and explained it to her and now I can smoke in the garage and outside
