AzZ
Don't buy one. Get a Bernzomatic blow torch from B&Q or anywhere they sell them! Best way to get nara's nice and hot.

Majid
How much are you willing to spend? I know you can import a special coal burner from a belgian website, crazy expensive in my opinion, 40 pounds before shipping. http://www.mrwaterpijp.be/catalog/product_...products_id/352You may be able to find electric hotplates/coil burners locally though, try some places that sell household appliances. TizaNabi
I do all my cooking on one, which is why I buy mostly already prepared foods! It takes lots of electricity to get it hot, and to keep it hot, then you are left with extra minutes with a hotplate that heats with nothing on it! I'm thinking of trying it for coals (again) but a butane burner probably is easier, cleaner and more fuel efficient.

AKammenzind
Yeah, a camp stove or a propane torch will do fine. I've used mapp gas quite a bit too.
Codename067
Single coil burners work great. Been using them for a while. Heavy-Duty torches will do as mentioned.
ukhookah
thanks for all your help. much appreciated. im gonna go with the camp stove since it sounds cheapest. at the moment im using my gas stove. i can get them to light but i have to angle the coal etc which isnt ideal. but hey, im sticking to coconaras, i just love the heat intensity on them. i like my smokes to tonk, and these coco naras dont fail! nathan_Choi
Out of curiousity, what's the problem with getting a coil hotplate type of thing? They sell em in most stores here in the states (department stores anyway)
Greenveg
I use what you could call a "poor-man solution" Take on of those big candles/torch or whatever you want to call 'em.You need one that is about a decimeter in diameter. Make some holes in the metal, I needed six holes, close to edge and make a little net of steel wire. Just so you can put the coal on.Lit the torch, and put the charcoal on:DAnd btw, this is my first post so say hi to a new member...This is really cheap, and worked better than I predicted. A torch generally burn for about 4h.
