Some Ideas For An "ash-less" Bowl

Recommended Posts

So I was struck with some ideas about keeping ash out of the bowl. First one...

I'm thinking some sort of metal "cap" in a can shape. Here's my rough sketch:

Imagine it as a hookah screen with an extra layer. The top is solid and it holds the coals. The sides have holes and the bottom has holes for airflow. As you you draw in air, it's heated up in the middle chamber and then down into the bowl. Perhaps a lid over the coal to trap in more heat.

My other idea is to set up a bowl like normal: shisha, foil, holes, etc. But put the coal in a tea light candle tin. The tin will collect the ash, but still disperse heat.

Anybody tried any of these? If so, do they work?

You mean like the mnh glass screen? Really though you could poke smaller holes and blow the ash off the top of the bowl everytime you go to ash your coals.

I've read good reviews about the glass screens, but I'm accident prone. happy.gif I like experimenting with new ideas too; especially something I could build (like idea 1).

If it makes any difference, I use 3K coals. I know natural coals are better but I like the convenience factor. Edited by bradleyclark86
