Smoking And Feeling Sick. Any Advice?

Recommended Posts

High all! so im new here, and came on, becuase last night me and my girl went to this lil lounge, and we smoked the hookah, i remeber we got strawberry-kiwi, but i dont remember what brand. well he brought us our hookah, with 1 coal on, and 2 extra coals.well when he came it only had one hose, i asked him if he could set it up with 2, he said yeah, but that its not worth i, that it would burn in about 15 min, that with 1 hose it can burn for over anhour. which it did. well we left, and neither of us were feeling to good. kinda like gotta throw up, or fart, or poop. just this weird feeling of discomfort. it came and went. but for the most part stayed. now we were both like this sucks, the hookah bar was chill, not the club scene, a lounge. and what we were looking for, but not that horrible aftermath. now we were pondering, could it be that we smoked too much. basically and hour of smoking. we had eaten a lil small meal about an hour before going. and while smoking all we had was a gaterade. so it sucked.but was great lol.
now what im thinking is i did some things maybe i wasnt sopossed to do. i would get the coal, and drop it into the plate to get the ash off, and the i would push the stuff that was on top of the foil off. maybe making it go inside? and then what i did was just put the coal back on in the middle, and put another coal on top. and hit it. while it was sparkling up.is it good to hit while its igniting? and if it didnt turn fully on?

well yeah. any tips on not feeling sick after smoking would be great.

You mentioned that you put coals on top of the bowl while they were sparkling..

that sounds like you were using quick lite coals, if thats true, that could be the reason you felt sick. quick lite coals have chemicals on them that cause them to light up quickly causing the sparking, I'm pretty sure while its sparking it gives off carbon monoxide and other chemicals which aren't very good for you to inhale. always wait until the coal is completely lit up before you put it on the bowl

I can think of a few problems. One, the owner lied to you about the 15 minutes shit. Second, I'm going to assume a quicklite disk for coal? They are infused with chemicals which you MAY have had a bad reaction to. Most liekly, however, is that if they used a single disk, whole, on the tobacco, it was burning way to hot and instead of cooking off the juices and tobacco it was actually burning the tobacco itself. What you were liekly getting sick from was inhal;eing the burning tobacco.

I'd say find a better place to smoke where they know how to prepare a proper shisha.

firstly, never inhale as its sparking. i don't even keep the coals near the tobacco. second, tobacco is a natural laxative, though in some people it will have an adverse effect. certain flavors may also help/hinder either effect. (im not sure which flavors though.) My favorite remedy: Water. lots of it.

I would def recommend drinking water while smoking. At least that is what I do and it seems to help me a lot. Plus, I try to avoid quicklights if I can. I normally only use those if I am at a friends house and don't feel like keep going into the house. I kind of get a weird feeling with quicklights, even when they are fully ashed over.... but just my 2 cents:)

Drink water before and during your session.

Eat before your session.

Don't breathe the smoke coming off the coals.

Don't light the coal on the bowl.

Make sure the coal is glowing red before using it.

If the smoke starts to taste like charcoal, or tickles the back of your throat, remove some of the coal. If it tastes overwhelmingly like it's burnt, trash the tobacco and tell the owner that he fucked up and should walk in to oncoming traffic.

Everything that they said could be a factor. Also smoking too much, especialkly if you're not a regular smoker, can also be a factor in this.

I know for a fact that i smoked too much a few days ago. I'm finding my trick is to stop just when my buzz start going on strong.

i dont think thats true. the laxative part. but it was probably due to a dirty hookah, a poorly packed bowl, and lighting the coal on the foil. all of these put together will give you a horrible feeling afterwards. but i can say first hand that smoking hookah does not give me the urge to rush to the bathroom wink.gif

i've had that icky feeling a few times when i was really new to hookah. sounds like you got some carbon monoxide posioning; it happens.

don't let one bad session get ya down! and ditto what everyone else said about inhaling while its lighting.
hope next time goes better!
