Tangiers Lucid Brambleberry

Recommended Posts

So i ordered about 6 lucid flavours,4 of which were fine (although the kashmir cherry has no cherry taste at all!)

The blue gum ball reeked of soy sauce, i tried acclimating it but it was cut short, but is smelling a bit better so im optimistic that this one will work with a little more acclimation.

But the brambleberry...smelt of NAIL VARNISH! A very strong solvent smell! Now ive left it out on foil for 2 and a half days and now it just smell odd, kinda a woody, earthy smell i think. It's hard to describe. I don't even know how this is ment to smell but im guessing it shud smell nice atleast.

Has anyone had this sorta experience with lucid?

Oh while im here, Im not too satisfied with the lucid, i think i was expecting alot more from it. Not LOADS of smoke like i was expecting and can be a bit rough on the throat. I realllly think my phunnel set up is wrong. I pack it like AF, 3 rings of holes with a safety pin and 2 QL's on either side on the bowl (can't get naturals or any other kind of QL's!). Maybe i should go back to using an egyptian bowl?

Hope you guys can help smile.gif

I have recently had my first few sessions with Tangiers Lucid. Brambleberry is one of the flavors that I have purchased but not have tried yet. I acclimated all 3 of my Tangiers in a glad or gladware container without the lid on for 3 hours. The watermelon came out good and the horchata came out fantastic! I will try the Brambleberry this week but to me it smelt like cherry twizler(licorice) pull and peels.

For packing Tangiers Lucid, I have been using an oyster fork to stir up the tobacco in its juices, then plop a large amount onto the phunnel. I then spread the shisha throughout, packing it just a smidge above the rim. I use HD foil and poke holes in a grid-shaped pattern throughout the whole bowl with an oyster fork. 2 coconaras and a windcover off and on and I'm in hookah heaven.

I am surprised that nobody has chimed in on this yet.

I would say use bigger holes, pin-size holes are too small in my opinion unless you are smoking AF, anything else should have reasonable size holes, not skewer size like for OG tangiers but at least toothpick tip size holes. That should help you with the tickling. If it still tickles use less coal and go from there.

Try breaking the quicklites before you put them on....the way that the phunnel is shaped makes it so quicklights usually don't work too well on it (atleast what i've found)

Also, you can fluff up lucid, but still make sure you put a good amount in there, it still should be packed tighter than AF...(again this is just what I've noticed)

As for the acclimation issues, I've never tried brambleberry but try it and if its good, then enjoy, if not, leave it out and hope that its gonna get better!

WOW amazing results! I did a Kashmire Cherry last night, packed it in slightly tight and filled it a bit above the rim, with toothpick tip sized holes and 2QL's. It was VERY good! nice thick smoke, smooth (although it did slightly tickle my throat but i think that was the kashmir) and really tasty. I cudnt stand it the 1st time i smoked it but this time i was enjoying it puff after puff.

Heres hoping the other flavours taste as great!

Brambleberry still smells weird sad.gif and smokes horrid (but then again i was packing it wrong)

Thanks for the help you guys biggrin.gif

acclimate the brambleberry more. even for 1 week. spread it out flat on some tin foil. dont worry the juices will never dry out.

also i find tangiers is weird. if you pack the bowl super tight (like jam the shisha down with your thumb), it smokes great. there is no airflow needed, except that when you pack super tight, use the toothpick and poke the holes down through the shisha (not only the foil). this somehow creates sufficient air flow.

Lucid should not tickle or be harsh at all, should smoke the same as AF. but the smoke may feel heavie, more full, and cream like. unlike AF which is white cloud but feels more fresh.

i think fresh tangiers is too wet from the flavor juices. and the flavor juices smell like soy sauce when freshly opening the package. so after the soy sauce dries out, you are left with really flavorful shisha.

you dont have to acclimate it as much but depending on the weather you still do. Brambleberry is sort of like a hazelnut so thats probly the wood smell let it acclimate a little more then load it the same as you did k cherry then let us know how it smoked

I didn't acclimate my cocoa at all, it smelt lovely straight out of the packaging. I think ill leave it open for a day or two and see if it improves.

I would, I found every time i get cocoa it smells great off the bat like brownies, but it still needs a bit of acclimation. Only one I have had to do that on if it smells right.

With both actually. Buddy of mine got Lucid, and it was the same way as original. So it's happened to me on both but I am not the Lucid expert.
