Mya Hookahs

Recommended Posts

I just ordered a Mya Threepio (essentially the mya Vortex with a different base and stem) and I'm wondering if this was the wrong choice. Are they decent hookahs? I'm having second thoughts because the first hookah I bought turned out to be a real piece of junk, It is now sealed by a cork and a piece of chewed gum.

I own a mya QT and mya acrillic mini and I enjoy them both. My main complaint is that mya hookahs get really pricey for the larger ones.

Mya make a quality hookah, the only quality pipe coming out of China. They are hand's down the best option if your in need of a multi hosed hookah as most Egyptians and Syrians are strictly one hosers. The one downside in my opinion besides the excessive price is the cleanability of these hookahs, they have a rough interior in the stem which can allow flavors to sometimes linger even after a good cleaning. Other then that they are quality rigs and I can proudly say I own 2 myself, a QT and a custom mya that I've not seen anywhere that I just picked up.

My first legit hookah was a Mya and wouldnt take it back for anything. It smokes great and looks great. Its one of the 3 staples around here on the forums. KMs, MZs, and Myas. Congrats

Their smaller hookahs are kickass... I love my Bambino, it gets used more than the two other KMs I own. That being said I think their larger hookahs are overpriced.

I have had a Mya Acrylic for about 2 years and I must say it's a fantastic hookah. Used regularly with lots of cleaning etc, and it's still going strong. I've got it hooked up with a Nammor hose and Phunnel and it hits very well indeed!

Good Points
- Screw on Acrylic base is great for moving it around just holding the stem
- Stem can be unscrewed into about 4 pieces - makes it easier for cleaning
- airtight (see below)

Bad Points
- The acrylic base wasn't fully airtight around the screw connector when I got it, so I used some plumbers PTFE tape to seal the small i
gap - worked fine ever since
- Supplied hose isn't very good. Upgrade to something better (like a Nammor or equivalent)

Like a lot of other people, a Mya was my first hookah.

I have no complaints for it. Great smoke, perfect size (I have the QT), and pretty cool looking.

I'd say it was a good purchase, I'm considering buying another one for a multi-hose hookah (maybe the Obelisk if I can rationalize the cost haha).

It arrived today and I am not in any way, shape, or form disappointed. The construction is infinitely better than my old hookah. If Myas are average as some of you said than I can't imagine what really high quality hookahs are like.

I'm pretty excited to have a hookah that doesn't suck ass like my old one.

Congrats and of course we need PICS!!!!!!

And Mya's aren't mediocre they're great. I have 2 KMs and a Mya and although I can more easily get big clouds from my KM, I've smoked the thickest clouds I ever had from a Mya Acrylic.

I'm definately gonna look into a KM next, people really rave about them here and I like the way they look. I read in another topic Myas are best for multi hosers which is why I bought one, I usually smoke with friends.

I'll do my best for pics.

I'm surprised that the first few posts werent saying that Myas were great.
I have a vortex and mini acrylic and I love them, they are kind of pricey, but totally worth it imo.

Mya hookahs are definitely the best I've ever smoked out of, good flavor, solid glass on the vortex, and thick clouds.
Then again I haven't tried a KM. I know you already got your mya, and it sounds like youre liking it which is awesome. I just cant imagine a hookah thats going to be WAY better than a mya, doesnt seem possible to me, maybe I just gotta get a KM and try it out?

Mya's are good hookahs, I use them as do my buddies. They are made in China and are marked as so, including their Crystal. Their distribution for the U.S. is located in Northern Virginia. My Bambino does a great joband smokes quite well with a phunnel attached.

Just ordered http://www.hookah-shisha.com/store/pc/configurePrd.asp?idcategory=241&idproduct=2771

As, smoking one (different style, but a Mya) was great for a two hoser...I completely agree with the poster on Egyptians being solo hoses primarily..

Two of my friends got the Obelisk:

Which smokes great, but the stock base is HIGHLY fragile...tap it light as anything against much (in one friends case, a ceramic sink) and it cracks...they've both replaced it with a more solid circular heavy base.

They're kinda expensive biggrin.gif
