mustang_steve
I figures may as well make a thread on fixing some annoyances we have dealt with when using our hookahs. Please add your own tips as well, so this can assist those that are having hardware issues. This first one is for any hookah with a "loose" (non attatches or snap-in) coal tray.To prevent tipping of the coal tray, wrap some electrical tape around the stem so that it can grab the tray, press the tray in carefully from the center, then use a razorblade to trim any excess. You now have a firmly affixed, yet still removable tray...no more tipping issues! Keep in mind the tray must be removed from it's center though, otherwise it is possible to bend it.Enjoy! inino
ive posted this in other threads before, but for your glass phunnels glass screens, and bases i have found that the best way to get all the black shit that builds up off of it, is to soak it in warm water with a 3-4 tablets of efferdent (the denture stuff). alka seltzer works ok too. you wont need to scrub anything, just let soak for a few hours. it works like magic. Rayneuki
I hate that 'burnt cigarette' smell that the ends of the hookah sometimes get. I've found that beer does the best at cleaning that out.
hippomania7
how to deal with coals falling off:go buy a vegetable strainer thing for a few bucks, cut the strainer out from the frame, shape it so its like a bubble, then put it on top of the coals and it clasps tightly to the tinfoiled bowl. has saved my carpet many times. TizaNabi
If you smoke on a rug, get a few matching ceramic floor tiles from a surplus store of tiles and they help in 2 ways, one..the hookah will not tip on the rug and fall, two.. falling coals will not burn the rug. ambuletzd2h
im gonna have to agree with steve, last weekend i was at a party and there was a hookah (thank god it wasent mine) and it got tipped over twice because everyone seem to pull the hose to hard and it proved to me that its just a bad idea lol
mustang_steve
If you have to hookah with drunks, a hookah table cutout to recess the hookah is best. If needed, make some really long hoses by performing the Vinyl tubing hose mod discussed in the DIY section of the boards. My experience with drunks is they keep lighting cigarettes and crap off the coals, knocking them off the bowl in the process, knocking over the coal tray (Glyphs have a notoriously loose coal tray), or other forms of tomofoolery. The worst is seeing them try to ash coals....tongs and dunks don't mix.
joytron
yeah its usually the drunk women who forget that the hose is not wireless and is in fact connected to the hookah. Its like the cuter they are the less anyone care, and i seriously doubt that anyone would take my side after I harpooned or "hulk smashed" them (which by the way isnt that the answer to everyones problem.) tongs and drunks dont mix... isnt that the truth
