Alex
What is the difference between Syrian and Egyptian style hookahs?
imonlyapuppet
I know that from hookah-shisha.com, their mutli hose syrian hookahs have auto seal valves in them, so people who don't want to smoke don't have to hold their thumb over the hose when not hitting it
ghunfrytimma
i believe it might be in overall shape and construction? im sure someone from a retail store can help us out on this one
djnick
the autoseal system does not define if its an egyptian or syrian. its the overall contruction and style. the autoseal system is an optional thing that any hookah can have
Hooka_Master
how??? I have 2 hoses egyptian hookah.. can i make it autoseal? Do i have to buy anything special?
yashman19
the autoseal system does not define if its an egyptian or syrian. its the overall contruction and style. the autoseal system is an optional thing that any hookah can have
Well autoseal is far more common in syrian hookahs than in egyptian. Yes egyptian hookahs can have autoseal, but they started off in syrian hookahs. Also, a lot of syrian hookahs tend to have the female style bowl instead of the male. This is where the bowl will actually go inside the top of the stem on the hookah, instead of going over the stem like on typical hookahs you see. This once again, doesn't mean that ALL syrian hookahs have this style of bowl, but there are virtually no egyptian style hookahs with this bowl type. Just something I've noticed. Like said above, syrian hookahs just have a different style than egyptians. Just look on different online sites that have both and compare. And yes, some sites out there have little adapters that can convert your single hose hookah into a 2hose. You just unscrew your air-valve, and screw on the attachment hose adapter. I can't recall which site sells these, but just check out different online sites and look under their 'accesories' catagory.

I'm not sure if anyone sells things to convert your multihose into an autoseal hookah. There are ways to ways to fanangle yourself an autoseal system, but its sort of complicated to explain. Maybe Brad will see this thread and chime in, because on his forum, he posted a way to convert your hoses into autoseal hoses.
sheeshabum
There are very cheap plastic adapters (White) to make a tobacco bowl good for either Syrian or Egyptian hookahs. See HB 20 when you scroll down on the right side. I checked a few online companies to find, around 4 but didn't find it. I have seen it retail. Sonthert
Actually, they're not plastic, they're ceramic and my company manufactures them. The heads at the top, too. Thank you for the indirect compliment. I take all implied compliments. I have an engineering drawing of something to autoseal hoses for multiple hose hookahs, but I never finished it. mushrat
Bowl types dont matter much anymore. Many syrians are now using "egyptian" female bowls.I think in general the whole distinction is fading into uselessness.I love seeing old threads dragged up for no particular reason
