txbrit31
I've decided before I leave my home of a year and a half in the UK I'm going to pick up a new hookah. This might be an incredibly stupid thing to do- but the price is right, and I have to get rid of the hard currency in my hands. Has anyone brought back a hookah with them? If so, how did you pack it? My suitcase has 1)a laserpod in the box, 2)tons of clothes, and 3)a few cds. I'm thinking of I leave the hookah put together (minus the ash catcher) and roll it up in clothes - it might make it. I've brought back framed pictures this way with no problem.. Any ideas? The one thing I do not want to do is bring it with me in a carry-on. I already carry one carry on that is massively heavy (computer, ipod, books, food for a small army) and don't wish to add to it.
JByer323
Anyway you can ship it? I don't know international customs laws, but having dealt with airports before, especially UK ones, it may be easier.
yashman19
Gunna have to agree wtih JByer323. Airports have an area where you can ship things back and for not too high of a price. This is what my friends have done when abroad. It'll be much easier than trying to mash it in with your luggage.
sheeshabum
You might dis-assemble it into pieces, bottle, shaft ,tobacco bowls. My father used to teach me how they would wrap things breakable inside of clothes (easier for a man than a woman because of wear on dresses, etc.)Just make sure the bottle is well wrapped, put anything that will fit into if they are very small things. The shaft should be well packed around it doesn't bend.I've done it once not on a plane, but on buses where it was manhandled too.Nothing broke and I never worried. sheeshabum

txbrit31
I love my laserpod.. I'm really big into ambient lighting. I've got two normal laserpods. They have one out called a laserpod galaxy that added an amber LED- which I don't like. But it is really amazing. Two of them fill my room with blue/purpleish light plus laser effects on the ceiling. Smoke just adds to it The really cool thing is you can put a glass on top of it, or something similar and it changes the effects totally. They've just come out with a hollow dome that you can blow smoke into. It is good for the light mode- but 90% of the time I leave the domes off of mine and let it shine on the ceiling and the walls. I will echo what I've read about the laserpods- pictures, no matter how good, fail to do them justice. Laserpods- plus ambient blue led lighting and some mellow music make for an excellent smoke session.. When I get back to the states I'll post pictures of my room in "smoke" mode. dizzing
heh, that is so cool... i am very into lighting as well (although i didn't know that was something to be proud of ... i have , optimally (when the bulbs are good) 8 switchable light sources in my one room apartment (okay, 2 are in the bathroom, but the door is open so they still create an effect) , 2 of which have a low/high setting and 1 of which a dimmer switch. this laser pod pretty much would make most all of them obsolete
thebastard
In December 2004 I brought a large hookah from egypt in my hand luggage & had no probs there bringing it back to the UK. Then last year just after the 7/7 bombings in London, I brought another hookah back to the UK in my hand luggage from South Africa- complete with tongs, brushes, tobacco etc. No one even question the stuff so I think its pretty much cool with the airports. I think that it would be better to pack it in your main luggage & not hand luggage tho, just incase
Sonthert
Most airports are cosmopolitan enough that customs people have discovered tons of people with hookahs and have learned to ignore them, although, it is illegal to bring "drug paraphernalia" into the US. I lost a jar and hose that way once, it was in my trunk when I drove into Mexico and then back when they searched it, they jacked it. This is five years or so ago, before the understanding that has occurred.
caspianhookahcafe
Customs is more concerned with food items as seeds that can be planted again. Hookahs are not a big deal going to cutoms since they are new and have no signs of being smoked. I go to Iran and bring hookahs all the time, but i brought some pumpkin seeds back and they took those away before even looking at the hookahs
Sonthert
Damn pumpkin seeds! Customs has many jobs at our points of egress.
