Need Some Help

Alright, for a while I thought my tastebuds were going but I'm now starting to think that I just suck at packing bowls. I realized that ever since I got a hookah of my own I just don't get much flavor. People here will rant and rave about how tasty some tobaccos are and I get nothing, except on things like mint, which you really can't not get flavor out of. I am however getting thick smoke.

So to the point, what am I doing wrong that would make me lose some of the flavor I should get.

I use an egyptian bowl for my regular sessions.

1. sprinkle tobacco lightly into bowl, about 1/8" below rim.
2.Tightly pull foil over top
3.Poke three rings of needle holes in the foil, about 10 holes each
4.Put on one 44mm TK QL (Just bought coco naras, should help)

Yes I realize how amateur I must seem, but I've been reading you guys' methods and experiences, and mine are simply not comparable *Jealous glare*.

mix the shisha and get some juices before you pack the bowl. also you do not need to sprinkle the shisha into the bowl, add more tobacco. the "sprinkling" term is to ensure proper airflow, but you can have good airflow even if you pack it tighter since when you pull, the air goes directly down through the shisha. if you pack SUPER tight (like a solid ball of shisha), then the airflow will go around the inner side of the bowl, not through the shisha.

what kind of tobacco are you using is the real question, becuase it seems like you are doing everything right. could be your hookah and hose arent clean and its masking the flavor. a phunnel will give more flavor too, but you should be getting flavor out of an egyptian if the tobacco is good.

make sure your hookah is thoroughly clean, you should be able to look down the stem and see shiny walls. also your hose might be really old and masking some flavor in which case you might need a new one. I always pack up to the rim and do toothpick sized holes (a bunch of them) but everyones got their own preference.

What shisha are you using?

like everyone already stated, pack maybe alittle tighter and what tabacco?

I generally use Rosetta, that's all my local store sells. But I buy other brands on the internet when I have money. It's probably the Shisha, I've read it's not very well liked.

sounds like you're doing everything right when it comes to packing your bowl.
the only thing you're doing wrong is buying crap tobacco.
get some AF or Nakhla and try again. i bet you will have great sessions.

ive never smoked rosetta, but like you said if its not well liked i would try other stuff. you will probably get alot more flavor. al fahker, layalina, al waha, tangiers, fusion, and im sure you can research and find some other good brands out there. it will make a HUGE difference when you start using better tobacco.

Meh, I'm not so convinced that it is just the rosetta, I've had some pretty enjoyable sessions with this tobacco and while not the HUGEST clouds they are pretty decent and the main issue that I DO get flavor from them. I'd say break up the QL and spread it out along the edges of the bowl.... it seems like you are just throwing the coal up on there (correct me if i'm wrong), the same heat spread out will do wonders for flavor. Also try a bit more shisha. you still wanna sprinkle but you can be pretty generous.... as long as its not packed in there so tight you have to pound the stuff outta the bowl you should be alright..... just play around and i'm sure you'll find something that works.
