Fluffy
i heard that they make coals last longer. is this true?
mattarios2
well they keep the heat in helping heat the bowl easier. I don't know if it makes the coals "per say" last longer but it makes the session last longer because you get more heat from less coal. You definitely save coal too. mitchard
I don't know if they would actually make a coal last longer. They do help to retain heat and protect from wind, which helps to keep coals lit nicely for a longer period of time. But as far as extending lifespan from time of lighting to total ash, no. If anything I think it might make it burn faster?

mattarios2
yep you got it. Use it to heat the bowl at the beginning so the coals don't have to work so hard and you don't have to pull so much to really warm the bowl up, once your clouds get nice and big, remove the wind cover, then put it back on at the end of the session to help keep the heat in when the coals start dying.
