Smashraj84
I ordered Nakhla Apple with my hookah and once I smelled it I gagged. I HATE anise, but I really like apple. Are there any Apple, 2xapple, or 3xapple, that have NO anise in it. Even if there is a slight anise scent, I will gag. Also, why do manufacturers put anise in their apple flavor? Any specific reason? Brad
From what I'ved tried all Double Apples have anise, which I'm not a huge fan of. I know both Layalina and Al Fakher carry Bahraini and Eskandarani Apples. Bahraini, to me, has an anise flavor to it but it isn't as strong as Double Apple. Eskandarani Apple is a green apple and has NO anise.Al Fakher's regular Apple doesn't have anise flavor either.

Brad
Layalina and Al Fakher's Eskandarani don't have anise but Al Fakher's is more of a green apple. Layalina's is like half red and half green.
gunsboy
AlFakher Apple did not have an anis taste when I tried it, but double apple fakher had strong anis taste. Bahrani lacks the anis taste but some people say that it has AlFakher Golden Bahraini is my faviorate shisha. I go through half a kilo every month or two. I did not like Eskandarani, it is a smooth smoke but a strong after taste, too fruity ..
yashman19
Just chiming in to let you know that Al Amir's Sour Apple doesn't contain anise, but I do believe their apple/2x apple does infact have the anise. Eww...
gunsboy
Anis is not that bad .. After smoking anything without Anis for a while, Anis would be a nice little change to keep taste buds thinking ...
mushrat
The starbuzz sour/green apple is also anise free. As is the Tangiers apple.

For some reason, the anise in it doesn't seem to be as strong in other anise apple flavors, which doesn't add up because everyone here seems to say that nahkla's anise is the strongest out of any other apple. To me, al waha double apple's anise is WAY to strong... Couldn't stand the stuff.. Oh well.
mushrat
I found a mix of nakhla 2 apple and Af Esk to be very nice.
King Mo
Fakher apple doesn't have that taste at all. Neither does pretty much all Eskandarani flavours. Qema apple, Al amir triple apple. etc also don't have a liquorice taste. it is mainyl restricted to Double Apple or Bahraini apple flavours (general rule of thumb, but not a blanket statement)
The Dude Abides
Al Amir apple is light and sweet, with absolutely zero hints of anise. It's basically the only apple I can really enjoy due to the fact that I choose to reserve my anise intake for Ouzo.
Sonthert
There are many apple flavors sans anise. Theres this one company...name starts with a T...their apple tastes like...apple pie kind of apple. Maybe a splash of cinnamon, just right. Sonthert
Scotch in the tummy, ouzo in someone else's tummy. I prefer the flavor of black licorice root flavor, and I don't make an apple flavor with it in, out of respect for Nahkla's monumental creation. If Nahkla hadn't made that flavor, hookah craze might've died out, we're not here chatting, etc.

Hey, pouring the stuff in the chamber and smoking apple/double apple is great. Of course, only use half the bottle so you have some to drink also. The Dude Abides
2nd generation Greek-American here, and I have an affliction for drinking ouzo and talking people into taking shots of it with me. All my friends fear the ouzo, and run away when I pull out the bottle. As far as pouring ouzo into my hookah vase... that sounds like some kind of medieval prescription for clearing one's sinuses. It seems like it could be a fire hazzard as well. Exploding hookah = glass and hot ma'assel napalm in your eyes. OPA!
MR Bubble
Nope. No Greek here in me. I got a soft spot for ouzo years ago while living in Germany. Every Greek restaurant serves up shots of it there, and I liked it so much I dedicated most of my adult life to drinking it. Yeah, I used to do the same thing with wandering around with the bottle and a couple shot glasses, bringing drunken joy to all my ouzo deprived comrades. And, of course, 3/4 of them grew scared of me and my bottle. I just haven't figured out how to deal with an ouzo hangover. MR Bubble
DarbyFett
Al Amir apple is pretty tasty with no taste of anise... but i hate anything remotely licourice so ya...that statement has no point.Ill make a exception for Jager though....not my first liqour choice but itll do in a pinch
