popcornkid06
My lacie external hard drive just accidentally fell like 1-2 feet off of my bed. It was on and plugged in when it fell so the usb was ripped out of the back of it and it wasn't "properly removed" When I turn it on it makes a weird clicking noise and my computer won't even recognize it... I know this is very grim but if anyone has any experience with this sort of stuff.. Can I recover the data? Will this thing ever work again? I'm going to try to send it back under the warranty.. just bought it a few days ago - I want to cry.
SilentBob
clicking in a hard drive is pretty much non-recoverable. data recovery can run nearly $500...i would just send it in under warranty for a new one.

It's a goner, hope the warranty covers it... but I wouldn't bet much on that.

SimplexCoda
Well it sounds like a physical crash, but i have some stuff to try to recover it. If you want me to look at it let me know, but i dont really think it can be recovered at least with much success. But like i say PM me about it if you want me to try.
