Dfw Hookahstock Iii

Recommended Posts

After seeing my old bud Abide post and thinking back on the first one it got me thinking that another is far overdue. How many folks we have around now from DFW (Dallas-Fort Worth Texas)?
For those that dunno what it is there are some threads from way back, but in a nutshell the first two started at my house and ended up at hookah bars. An all day (well about noon on) Saturday event.

HookahstockI & II our friends at Social Smoke were not only able to make, but everybody would say were the highlight of the event. We got to try new products and enjoy each others company and I'll grill up some kind of critter. Let's start throwing ideas as usual and see what we can pull together. Edited by Scalliwag

I would love for one of these to happen. Working in a hookah bar, I always love getting to meet other people in the business. Plus I always love getting to see the new stuff from social smoke. We should really get this done guys!

I'd be down for a trip up to Dallas for a hookahstock depending on the date.

Cool.... hopefully it pans out. The locals *should* be able to be a bit more flexible on it... but I know things come up to that can't mess up the best plans.

I will be there!

My wife may or may not come cause she preggers, but I will be ther!

I didn't notice you are in Texas until now. Where ya at? My wife stays as far away from my get-togethers as possible because I used to always keep her preggers wink.gif Naw, hookah stuff is not her thing and she is as much an intravert as I am an extravert. She is shy and that's about the only thing I've never been accused of.
I look forward to meeting ya.

Did you have any date or set of dates in mind scalli?

Not really, between late Feb to late Mar seems like the best for weather before it starts getting much warmer is kinda how I'm leaning. I'll IM Abide and let him know I started a thread and to chime in with a yay or nay on the idea.

Heck yeah, im down. Any weekend is prolly just as good as another for me.

YAY!!! We'll have your room ready smile.gif Okay guys so there's Abide's input and he's prett flexible. I notice that emails are not working for PM's so there are a few folks that will have to be emailed directly unless they log in. I know that CorEy (EvansLight) had to quit smoking temporarily but the guy still has to eat right? I'll hit him up on coming out.
Some of the old folks I need to did back through the old threads. Since email notification is not working unless they are logging in they won't see it sad.gif
I'll have over some friends of mine that you guys will like. Super cool people and can play some music for us. Depending on if they are booked will depend on how long they can stay. But that will add an extra pleasantry to the event.
If one of my buddies that's in Abu Dhabi right now is back by then we'll cook a whole lamb on my rotisserie as well as some chickens and such. Beer for the 21 uppers.

Okay guys help me out here. The first weekend I see feasible to allow for planning is the Saturday after Valentines day.
So for grins let's say Feb 21st. Let's see who can make that and who it's bad for. It may or may not be cold but we have a chimnea and a big fire pit if that is the case. If it's raining there's a patio cover. But it'll probably be a 60 degree day smile.gif

Well the first ones peeps brought their hookahs and it was kinda a show and tell. You can bring a side dish if you like or if there is a particular dish you are proud of. Beverages of choice especially for those under 21 or don't like Shinerbock (< I've learned to accept their are some folks out there with bad tastes in beer sad.gif )

So the head count as far as forum folks we are at right now is: Abide, Freeze, Stu, Vic, & Scalli?
Date for Feb 21st. That sound right so far?

I can bring a case of Corona for those of us with good taste. Ill also harass our chef to throw me together a sampler tray

Corona is fermented goat-piss from select inbred goats with kidney infections wink.gif HA!!! Actually it is probably just a mental thing with me but for some reason I like Corona or Dos XX's more than Shiner when eating mexican food. It just seems to taste better when knocking off some nachos or tamales or fajitas smile.gif
So what all kinds of stuff are on a sampler tray? You got my full attention smile.gif

With Mexican Beer it's Modela Negro or nothing!

That is good beer. I was at a flea market in South Fort Worth that has Tejano bands play on weekends. I was there just to look at peoples junk but it was hot and I wanted a beer. I struck up a conversation with one of the guys in the band and next thing ya know I'm sitting at their table with their families knocking down food and drinkin beer. Tejano is some good festive music when your ripped btw. It feels good to let out a loud "I YI YI!!! It is the equivalent of a good "hell yea!!!!" One of the guys bought a round of modela Negro and it was damn good. Cute girls wearing tacky shit was a plus too smile.gif
It was not what I had planned on doing that day but I have to admit it was a lot of fun. A first for me getting drunk at a flea market at that. I forgot all about that beer. I'm gettin a sixer tonite and see if it is as good when I start off sober

Kabobs: Beef, Chicken, Lamb, Kufta
Shawerma: Chicken, Beef
Hummus, Falafels, Grape Leaves, Arabic Salad, Baba Ganouj

Basically an Arabic feast

This is hard even for me to believe but I still have not tried shawerma. I am looking forward to that. smile.gif A lot of that stuff except for the kabobs and hummus (< hummus makes a really good dip for fritos! HA!) Although I've tried some mediterranean food I did not like but didn't know their names. If I see them I'll remember. Edited by Scalliwag

I'm gonna have to wait and see on those dates, my G/F's little brother is Captain of his HS(that I also graduated from) varsity b-ball team and the district finals for them are that weekend up in Belton so that could be a killer for me. On the upside if we pushed it to the 27/28th then his state finals tourney is in Dallas that weekend so I would be up there anyways. As of right now I can almost guarentee that they'll make it to State finals as they haven't had any trouble beatin the crap outta anyone in the district, but as I said before I'll know closer to the end of this month/first week of feb.
