Coal Bowl Idea

nice!

Any other little tricks you are working on?

Does the metal ever get too hot?

I cant really tell but do you only poke holes on the foil under the drain or all over?

It gets really close to as hot as the coal does. When you break the coals up they get even hotter than when they are solid. Now that I'm using the crushed glass that works better for me now.
My hole pattern are two sets about the size of a quarter directly under the coals. Non heated air defeats the purpose.

thats a very good idea, im wondering, if you made the holes smaller on the bottom if you could minimize ash. but maybe it would put the coals out. i really love how it makes it easy to move the coals around. i use natural bulk coals so sometimes i get really small pieces, this invention could help me utilize those coals.

Sorry I forgot to answer that. The answer is yes. But like the mod the idea is going to MNHookah. But I'll tell ya what it does. It's a climate controlled coal keeper mainly for natural coals. For getting them started and keeping them at an optimum heat. So they don't burn too slow or too fast while the are in waiting.

On a side note: I see you still clear your pipe before every hit scalli wink.gif

Yep Mechy I still have that habit. ohmy.gif When I'm smoking by myself I have a really bad habit of getting into playing with different crap/ideas/projects/emails etc. and I used to pick up the hose and take a big hit of nastyass stale smoke so I started a bad habit to offset the first bad habit. smile.gif So in a way two wrongs can make a right wink.gif

i would definately buy that coal holder you are speaking of. i only use natural bulk coals, and im sure you know how it is when you light up 2 big logs and a half an hour later you have nothing left lol. please make sure to make a thread when that device comes out.

Exactly. Anything to improve the pain in the ass of tending them was what I had in mind. I have been wanting to try coconut coals but that was not an aspect I looked forward to dealing with. I had some crappy natural coals that were not good for anything but testing ideas with anyways. Nothing better to do than let them burn away on their own and observe smile.gif

to be honest, i used coconut coals before, and i really like natural bulk way better. burns cleaner, and way cheaper. but thats just my experience. alot of people swear by cocos and to each his own. on a side note, where do you buy your coals, i get mine for 12 bucks for a 40 pound bag at smart and final.

I'm getting the coco naros (or whateva the name is) from MNHookah. At least the naturals I've tried I have not cared for. I always go back to Three Kings for the simplicity.

You should look into johns chronicut insta lights. I really like the ease of insta lights and have found they last longer and work better than 3kings yet are still cheaper.
