How Much Water In The Vase For A

Recommended Posts

As said, submerge the stem around an inch... give or take 1/2", it's personal preference.

And I almost always just use tap water, but will occaissionally use coconut milk, juice, iced tea, or put ice cubes in. Crushed Ice is a better bet IMO, less clanging on the sides of the base that could break it if there's a flaw or thin spot. Edited by AKammenzind

If you're going to add ice, put a little bit of water in the vase first. It will stop the ice from hitting against the bottom of the vase.

Good point! I am just getting back into hookah after a long break, but I have never really known how much water to put in so I like this thread being posting. I usually did the rule of thumb inch past the tube thing, but sometimes worked better than others. I think Mushrat has an excellent thread on how to set up a hookah properly somewhere on the board. One of the reasons I always put the ice in last is because I figured the ice would last longer that way. I would always fill the water up to the desired level, then put as much ice as possible into it, then dump out some of the water. Be careful though, I don't know this for a fact, but I would think you may want the water level to be a bit on the higher side if you do put ice in because once the ice melts, the water level will go down because ice is expanded water. Just a thought. I am planning on getting a KM ice hookah as soon as gh? posts a promo code to avoid messing with ice in the vase anymore.
