delSol_si
Ok, I did a search for "ice" and "dry ice" and nothing came up, so hopefully I am not repeating anything. I used to smoke hookah a long time ago and am just getting back into it now. I used to work at a local grocery store that got ice cream in with dry ice. I was in pretty good with the managers, so they let me do things that I probably shouldn't be allowed to do. They would let be take the dry ice home whenever it came in and I wanted it. I usually would just make bombs out of it or smoke out a parking lot or a drainage pipe or something like that, or just experiment with it.One day, I decided to try smoking hookah with dry ice. I almost always put ice in the vase to cool the smoke down, so logically, I figured dry ice would be at least twice as good and fun. I did not know the effects of inhaling dry ice fumes, so I rejected the idea of putting it directly in the vase. Rather, I had a big block of it, so I put a towel on my coffee table, then set the big block of dry ice on the towel, and then set the entire hookah on top of the block of dry ice.Needless to say, the smoke was very chill. After awhile though, we noticed it was hard as hell to suck on the hose, but we continued to smoke anyway. Just a few minutes later, we could barely get any smoke or air at all so we inspected the hookah. To our surprise, all of the water in the vase had turned into ice. To our disappointment, the session was over and we had to wait for the ice to melt to smoke again.Does anyone know of a better way to go about this without having the water in the vase freeze into ice? Hobbs
Get dry ice pellets and use just a handfull in a bucket that you set the hookah in perhaps.I use dry ice for computer cooling on occasion and a hand full of pellets will keep you cool for 30 mins or so. (10 mins on a 100 C+ degree CPU)
wpw36
try putting it in a styrofoam cooler have the hookah sitting on like a concrete block and surround the block with the dry ice. that should keep it from freezing
ambuletzd2h
if you have a hookah with a ice bucket try putting it in there, just a idea though

mitchard
Seems like a very bad idea, since its just co2... you know.
Tom1
Putting dry ice in the vase is a good way to kill yourself. It will obviously make it colder but the gas being given off is pure Co2.
indian_villager
You don't need your smoke that cold. If you really are dead set on this then add alcohol. You may need a fair amount but it should lower the freezing temperature considerably.

If you put dry ice in the vase you are basically suffocating your brain by purposely inhaling carbon dioxide. Don't do it.Ever.
Capt. Morgan
I'll have to pass on this idea. To me ice can take away from some flavors, the flavor just doesn't come through as much when the smoke has been really cooled.

I thought he was keeping the dry ice outside the vase just cooling it like he did in his first post, but the issue was that he froze the water. The alcohol will keep his vase fluid from freezing. And Tom since you are so worried about CO2 what do you think are the combustion products of Charcoal (Just a hint Charcoal is mostly Carbon.) AKammenzind
If you have any snow you could just scoop a bunch into a bucket and stick your vase in there. If not you could just use crushed ice in a bucket around your hookah. In addition to ice in the vase it should make your smoke pretty damn cold. Bye bye now have fun
you could make a salt water mixture and put it in the freezer. the salt will drop the freezing point so it will still remain liquid

EternalSoil
If you were going to put alcohol in the dry ice you might as well just use rock salt and regular ice and drink your alcohol.and engineonmute, you dont get drunk, it just makes you really light headed, you're basicly just huffing whatever you put in there plus nicotine. it's a weird experience but you can mix it up with different flavors and stuff.
