Cybersist
So I'm getting about $1100 back in tax returns this year and I figured I would invest in a hobby of mine, photography, and hopefully do some professional work. I've narrowed down my choices to a Nikon D80 or a D90. I've got a small list of pros and cons already:Nikon D80 ($820 can get me the camera with a Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6g ED AF-S DX and a Nikkor 70-300mm f/4-5.6g AF zoom, plus a bag, filters, tripod, cleaning kit, flash)Pros: cheaper of the two, I already have past experience with it, and for the same amount of money as the D90 I can get an additional lens.Cons: Not the top of the line, No video, live view, gps tagging (just cool little features)Nikon D90 ($1200 can get me a Nikon 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6g ED lens, without the carrying case and other extra goodies)Pros: Much more features, friends have confirmed that it is a nice step up from a D80, faster continuous shooting, auto sensor cleaning, the list goes onCons: Bit more expensiveIt boils down to whether or not I want to get more lenses and goodies or more camera. I'm really leaning towards the D90, but I figured someone out there has had hands on experience with both and might have some thoughts as to what would be a better buy. Let me know what you think! Thanks for your input!
likespaceships
Personally I'd go with the d90 package. Mainly because I think I would be using that one lens much more than those other two.
kvtaco17
the high iso performance on the d90 is amazing if you are shooting in low light... honestly both are good though

I would be mainly be doing archetechtural and landscape photography, but I also like human subjects, so I could see the low lighting of the D90 very useful. kvtaco17
Dp it then you won't be disappointed, I do a lot of photography mainly fun projects of my own but the occasional wedding and the extra versatility of the d90 is amazing... sometimes its the difference between having to do a bunch of editing and not.
