corysteez
Hello everyone, I am new to smoking hookahs, but i have read the rules and have searched many times. However nothing has yielded a good solution yet. I recently purchased a hookah from a shop, and i have smoked it for about 3 days. My clouds are phenominal and my heat management is fine, but i still can't seem to get as much flavor or taste as i do at the hookah lounge. Is it because i am smoking jewels brand banana flavor at home and starbuzz at the lounge? I am open to any suggestions please help
kbCorruption
You could try a phunnel bowl which holds all the juices and doesn't let them run down the stem. It could just be the brand of shisha. I have never smoked Starbuzz or Jewel so I can't really comment on them, but I have tried a few brands that didn't really stack up in the flavor department. Tyler
So far Starbuzz is the most flavorful shisha I've had. Jewel is on the lower end of quality in my opinion, but I'm a shisha prude. I reccomend switching brands, it could just be the banana flavor that's weak, too. Some brands have flavors that are better than others.
jezter6
Not many banana flavors are very pronounced from any shisha brand. It's not a "potent" flavor in general. The other thing is drop some of the heat. More heat = more clouds = less flavor. Using less heat will have the effect of dropping clouds, but allowing better flavor. Also, if you're using ice or damn cold water in the base - you're doing a disservice to the flavor. Sure, that helps for nice big clouds that don't make you cough, but it does rob flavor.Try using less heat and a closer to room temp water in your base and see if you get some better taste. Also consider getting a more powerful flavor than banana.
Tikhman
Jewels mostly has a pronounced tobacco flavor with and undertone of what ever flavor you bought. Unless you really like cigars, you probably won't like it. Try something with more flavor, nakhla or al fakher are probably best for now till you get accustomed to using your hookah. Also, don't bother with starbuzz, its just too damn overpriced.
corysteez
Thank you very much, here are the details. I have no idea what kind of hookah it is, but i can post pictures tonight. or i can email them right now if you leave your e-mail address. It looks kind of cheap and that is what i was worried about. The only shisha provided around here is either jewels or hookah-hookah brand, so i will try to get a more potent jewels flavour today. I am using a single three kings coal on one sheet of foil and room temp water for my base. If that helps any.

engineonmute
starbuzz is kinda expensive, but if you're like me and only smoke a small 1hr bowl once or twice a week, buying starbuzz isn't that bad. isn't jewels that new brand...? i got a sample box of it and i dunno if i wanna try it

Hobbs
Oh and by the way to the guys talking about Jewels in the thread, the stuff is made in Richmond, Virginia, it's a pretty cheap off brand. I had banana jewels and it wasn't very strong at all.

If that helps any.First, get some better shisha.Second, are you putting the whole coal on dead center or leaving a little off at first until the coal dies down? A whole coal directly on the bowl might get this thing rocking a little too much, depending on your bowl size and setup.Cheap hookah should have nothing to do with flavor unless it's dirty and nasty inside.
