AmunRa
I am going to be taking a trip soon, and I am wondering if any of you travel often with your pipe? If so, so you carry-on the pipe, and put the perpherials (bowl, tings, tobacco, coals, etc.) in your checked bag? Any tips you have are appreciated! Thanks. SimplexCoda
Im sure stuff like tobacco and coals would have to be in checked baggage cause of their nature of being on fire. other than that i dont see why couldnt carry everything else on. Now that i think about it youll prolly have to check the tongs too cause they are "sharp"

If so, so you carry-on the pipe, and put the perpherials (bowl, tings, tobacco, coals, etc.) in your checked bag? Any tips you have are appreciated! Thanks.I have my tobacco in their respective rubbermaid tubs. I use my mya mini acrylic box and have inside of it: stem, vase, bowl, grommets, tongs, coals, and pre-cut foil. Then I have the hose on its own.I just did it twice through carry-on security and if the screener knows what a hookah is, you'll be fine. If not, they'll go through your bag b/c it looks confusing as hell through the x-ray.The ONLY thing I was concerned about was the tobacco. Because of these damned liquid restrictions, I was thinking they might be a little strict and include "wet" tobacco but since they had no idea if it was wet or not, and I just told them before that it was tobacco in the tubs, they didn't think about it twice. They had no problem with the coal since you need a lighter to light them and at that point, anything on the plane is flammable. Also, they didn't question the tongs (it has a flat head with small little spike things for support) and the accompanying pin I have attached to it.Also, no lighters. They aren't allowed on carry-on, and they will find them. I know way too well from experience.Side note: I kept my tongs in a plastic bag in the mya box b/c I didn't want them scratching anything. That would apply to anything you want to keep "scratch free" inside the box. Edited January 27, 2009 by thehelios
