mushrat
Hotplates will work. Watch the smoke detectors!
Ghaleon
ha, no worries about those. I'm in Turkey, you can smoke anywhere. Thanks.
dizzing
heh, this stuff goes way beyond the typical smoke of smoking cigs or hookahs. i have an electric element, like the kind found on electric stoves (1000 watts i think), and when i light coals with it there are some HORRENDOUS aromas that come from it. the body of the element is plastic, so it gets really hot and gives off weird chemically smells, and the coals have some bark and stuff on them which burns off very un-cleanly. once they're going it's fine, but the lighting process will fumigate you out of your dorm room if you're not careful
ghunfrytimma
ive seen some really cool hand held torches that run of some type of gas with refillable canisters...that would probably be the ideal thing for you...? i think they run under 30$...(not sure though)
dizzing
heh, you can just get a cheap torch for like 10 bucks at lowe's, it's just a valve and nozzle that screw onto a canister of gas. the canisters are dirt cheap, propane for about 3 bucks, MAPP gas for 4 which is supposedly MUCH hotter and thus better forlighting coals.
