Grape flavors

Recommended Posts

I've had a 50 gr. jar of some al-amir grape that I finally got around to smoking last night.  The smoke was nice and dense, and in my opinion tasted alot like Welches grape juice.  For the first 1/2 hr. or so the flavor was really sweet, but after a while the smoke took on a more sour grape taste.  I've been noticing a slight change in flavors of most of my tobacco when the ice cubes in the base begin to melt and the temp of the water warms up a bit, but nothing quite as drastic as what I experienced with this grape flavor.  This being my first experience with any brand of grape, I wanted to know if this was normal with most grape flavors or maybe particular to this brand?

I didn't like Nakhla at all. Almost tasted like cough medicine to me, it was so fake, which was disapointing, because most of their stuff I really like.

I just smoke fumari grape.....bleh. fumari is usually really tasty, but probably only in their signature brlen, not the premium.the grape had hardly any flavor, so i dumped it and put in their cherry and that's no good either. But their signature Sour Apple is the bomb.

I've been smoking AA grape for a while and yes, it does change flavor quite a bit about 30 minutes in.  I'm not sure if I'd call it a sour grape taste though, just less flavorful than the grape-juice flavor towards the beginning of the bowl.  AA's grape is one of their best flavors IMO, though I've yet to try banana split (caramel apple doesn't do it for me).
Al amir in general in my opinion gets kind of harsh. Something to do
with the way its all chopped up fine and has a lot of "syrup" in it.I
smoke nakhla and Al-waha grape all the time and its one of my favorite
flavors of all time and have never noticed harshness.
Ugh, why is there no edit button?  Anyways, yes, AA does tend to get harsh.  The amount of heat required towards the middle is greatly reduced; if you stick another whole coal on, it won't taste good (cut it back to about 1/2-3/4 and you're good).

It'd been a while since I smoked it, but Al Amir grape is my favorite grape. If I remember correctly (becoming a challenge) It started off with the taste of a big, dark concord grape, and did lighten up after 15 or 20 minutes and go slightly sour. I loved it!
Speaking of which, and forgive me for straying, but did any of you get a chance to try the Mountain Dew Pith Black a few months ago? That was the best grape flavored soda yet! I'd love to find some massell with THAT flavor.
