PhxKarma
So practically every brand has red dye? Is it just certain flavors or what?
Hippo_Master
No it's brands. Mostly washed brands. The second batch of brands I listed have no dye. And red isn't the only color. There's neon green! Edited January 28, 2009 by Hippo_Master
AKammenzind
It depends on brand/flavor, and seems to change by the batch... as a general rule though Hippo is pretty much right. Health wise who knows what the effects are, though I'm doubting it comes close to smoking in general haha. Some members are bothered by the taste they think it gives, and a few seem to get headaches from it. Personally, I don't care because if it smokes well, it's good by me. This applies esp. to Al Fakher, last batch of grape I had was bright bright red, and smoked/tasted like pure heaven.
PhxKarma
Most shisha I have bought has been red in color for the most part, never had any problems?

I guess it's generally considered lower quality compared to the uncolored stuff.
mattarios2
yeah well i emailed AF about this but of course, they didn't get back to me. I mean some use more than others, Af and Layalina use a shit load of coloring, while fusion and some other brands use a lot less. I am lucky that most of the fusion flavors I am enjoying are brown.Who knows I mean I guess at the end of the day we are smoking ... eh Some claim the coloring is worse than actually smoking but I don't agree with that. But I do agree that artificial coloring is bad. What I do is I try to balance my life, since I smoke some shishas with coloring, I pretty much removed coloring from anything i eat, more or less, cereals, frozen goods I no longer eat, no candy with artificial coloring, etc. You'd be surprised how many things they make out there that are natural with no preservatives and coloring and artificial flavoring if you search around a bit.
